Not likely. By the time I actually pull the trigger, I will be buying a amp head as well. I'm currently leaning towards the Trace Elliot GP-12X or The Ashdown 12-band 600, which seems to be a modern equivalent of the Trace, and therefore more readily available.

The aesthetics is part of it, both my guitarists play tube heads with 4x12s, making my 1x15 ashdown combo, (although a KILLER amp) looking puny in comparison. Tone is also part of it; I've always preferred 15" driver amps (and apparently, so did Lemmy) Finally it's the OCD part of my mind that...

I'm interested in a 4x15 cabinet. Wether this is the one or not is a different story completely.

That's the thing, this cab is a complete mystery to me. The Marshall 4x15s Lemmy used would be impossible to reach around (I already have a problem lifting my brothers 4x12 down and flight of stairs due to the width) and by extension and living hell to carry by myself. That's why this particular...

Would you please be so kind as to explain those problems? An earlier comment spoke of a loss of low end, wouldn't that be a lesser problem if you adjusted the EQ of the amplifier and swapped the drivers for modern ones with more bottom end?

If I wanted validation, I'd ask for my parents' opinion. It was nice seeing someone who seem to understand my point of view, that doesn't automatically mean that I will base my decision on that alone. The more i read this thread, the more I wonder whether the cabinet was the problem, or rather...

Nice to hear! My thought process went as follows: Lemmy used 4×12s, Cliff Burton used Sunn gear in the early days, Steve Harris has used a Trace Elliot GP12X almost his whole career and so did Jason Newstead during the Black Album-sessions. A fair assumption would be that a mix of that gear...

I take this as you recommending the cab? My dream backline is a 4×15 cab with a Trace Elliot or Ashdown head with the goal bass tone being a Metallica/Iron Maiden/Motörhead mix

Of course I'm interested in learning, but knowing the general consensus isn't very useful to me, the physics are. However, I'm NOT interested in studying, that's why I'm asking on a forum were someone might be able to tell me the answer

Many things are considered awful by lots of people, often without any real reason. All communities are to some extent echo chambers (for example, people believe tonewood is a thing in electrics because Gibson transferred that piece of marketing over from their acoustics and people believed it...

I'm aware of the weight (the total weight of the speakers alone would be about 20 kg, and feather weight-plywood isn't a thing to my knowledge) What I'm wondering about, again, is the sound. If you don't have personal experience or can explain the physics of colliding soundwaves, then don't bother

So I was looking at 4x12s at Reverb a when I found this old one from the 70's with a kind-of wedge or V shaped speaker baffle. It makes a lot of sense to me, since it would have a more compact footprint (and would be easier to move, since you'd actually get your arms around it). The question is...

Wow, thanks! I'd say that the red to black fade, pearl pickguard and chrome hardware goes together even better than I expected! Looks sick, I love it!

The under side/back end of a jazz bass body (close to the strap button) is very flat so the radius won't be an issue. Thanks for the concern though, really appreciate it!
