    Bass Setup - Various Basses

Thanks Solarmist. I wasn't trying to dispute any of your recommendations. I guess I should've put that disclaimer in there. I actually found your posts helpful when I started on my adjustments. I like your string height recommendations as it suits me well. It's also very close to Ibanez's...

    Bass Setup - Various Basses

07/05/2009 NS2A - I received an email from P.J. at Spector with regards to the issues I described above. He linked me to an instruction manual that describes bridge adjustment. At this time, I have decided to keep my current setup, so the NS2A remains unaltered. SB900LE - I checked the...

    The Thrash Bass Tip Thread

Not bashing Slayer because I have just as many Slayer CD's as Metallica. But if Araya is that articulate of a bass player, it doesn't show up on their recordings. I've seen Slayer live 3 times between 1990 & 1995. I've only watched Cliff's stuff on video. Slayer puts on a killer show overall but...

    The Thrash Bass Tip Thread

Learn some scales as well. Cliff Burton was classically trained and ingrained a lot of theory into his song writing. For Tom Araya of Slayer, it was much more simpler. It almost seems like Slayer couldn't find a bass player and Araya just needed something to do besides sing.

Where to find truss rod nut for Squier?

Snap a pic of the headstock and neck where it meets with the bass body. Judging by the pics on Squire's website, it looks like it is at the headstock with no cover. Hopefully, another Squire owner will chime in though.

    Peavey Forum?

I've always used Peavey practice and studio amps. I've picked up an old Foundation S about two years ago. The bass is tired but plays surprisingly well for its condition. I've recently dismantled the bass to recondition it with the hope that it will sound better when finished. I am also going to...

    Ibanez SB900LE...need info

Initially, when I first brought it home, it didn't play well. But the strings were very old and the set up was out of whack. After restringing it and setting up the bass, the neck feels better than my SR400. Both use the same strings (Blue Steel ML). Compared to my SR400, the SB900LE seems to...

    Bass Setup - Various Basses

I rechecked my work on the SR400 and Surveyor. It looks like they have both settled in as the adjusments described in my original post were unchanged. I moved on to the Spector and the SB900LE. NS2A - I had this bass setup by a local shop about 10-12 years ago. The owner talked a good game...

has anyone here ever gigged in stereo?

I've never plugged into my stereo. But I've plugged into the house stereo at one of the clubs that I've gigged. They had four 18" speakers built into the stage. It tickles the feet when you play.

    Spector basses.

Got it. I guess I got it backwards.

    Spector basses.

It's not stupid. It's marketing. There's a reason why companies like Spector and almost every major manufacturer lists their artists on their websites or use them as pitchmen. It's to get the people who actually listen to those artists buying the same gear. It may not be your cup of tea, but it...
