    Heavy 77 Jazz...New Body?

Sounds like somebody's been watching Trailer Park Boys again.

    Thanks, folks!

I know, I know - I only have myself to blame.

It's true. I knew how to buy weed on the street in NYC when I was 14. I also knew how to recognize a mugger, and make free calls from a pay phone. That's when New York really was like Escape From New York. Life skills!

Tribute bands - the cosplay of the music world?

Sounds like he was doing it right.

Tribute bands - the cosplay of the music world?

Eh, why not? IMO there's good reason to keep music from the golden era of rock alive. If you can entertain and share or even inspire a love of live music, that's a good thing, innit? I'm all for it.

    Taking a break from playing?

Been busy with new job (my day job is my real job ) and some other things. Had not picked up a bass for about (shudder) nine weeks. I imagine many of you have been there at one time or another. I finally said, well, gotta get back to it. My fingers are a little slow and a little soft...

I agree. The teachable moments may continue well into adulthood. I like the idea of teaching responsibility and consequences without shame/embarrassment.

I most definitely did things as a teen that positively terrify me now. I was unsupervised and it was the late 1970s, early 1980s. Think of all the things you can imagine, then multiply them by ten. I'm shocked I made it sometimes. That gives me the perspective I have today vis-a-vis a sticker.

Congratulations on having a bass-playing son! Youth is time foolish mistakes. In the grand scheme, this is tiny. Have a *friendly* chat with the boys, and my guess is once you explain your position, they'll volunteer to help with the removal once they finish apologizing. I didn't see his age...

NBD HELP! Damage! Cracks! Return or Keep? Gibson Thunderbird Content!

Gibson is not known for headstock strength. That said, IMO that's not even a B-stock instrument. That's significant damage/defect in a place where you really don't want it. I assume you've returned already, and that's the right decision.

are the short scale basses your thing?

I have several. I find that both shorties and longer scales are fun. I love the ease of playing a shorty and the retro thump of many of them.

This guy has an interesting take on whats the worst bass you've ever purchased

Darn it. I need to rethink my values!

Most sad story I've ever heard.

What do you think about those recent limited-run reproductions?

    Worst Dad Band song

It's just a guess. I can make one if you want. Then we can all go back and forth until we are bored or the thread gets closed.
