    Does your guitarist bring backups?

I only bring spare strings and cables. In 30+ years of playing, I've seen a bass string break exactly once, and it wasn't me. The things that seem to cause the most problems are dead batteries and bad patch cables on pedal boards. I don't use a pedal board and I've only got one bass with active...

Why does Japan get such cooler Fenders than the US... and also hide them from us???

Their marketing team is more in touch with their customer base.

Am l cursed with terrible drummers?

As an old guy living in the sticks, I can sympathize. I would highly recommend you look into recording software such as Logic which makes it easy to play with great, natural sounding drum tracks. Life's too short to take on the painful and unnecessary. Good luck!

Am l cursed with terrible drummers?

Who's forcing you to play with these drummers? Sounds like you need to be more discriminating in your choice of bandmates and projects.

    "People Don't Like Making Music"

It's true that most people don't like making music. Musicians, however, are pretty much defined as people driven to make music. Even if it's just for exposure. Or, no pay. You know who doesn't enjoy the majority of the time they're doing their "thing"? Software developers. That's what the...

Singer tuning songs down too low.. muddy.. but he’s a good friend.. ugh

Have him sing the songs a whole step lower while capoing up and using the appropriate chord forms for the capo'ed strings.

    Singer’s Daughter

1: Never be in a band with a couple. 2: Never be in a band with a parent-child duo unless the last name is "Carlton". 3: Never be in a band with siblings, unless neither of them is the lead singer. 4: I don't care what others get paid--I just care about my joy:hassle ratio, which can be adjusted...

Do you consider your bandmates as friends?

For the most part friendly, but not friends. There are some folks I've played with for a long time who have become friends, but as middle-aged person, there's not a lot of open slots for new friend time at this point in my life.

How often do you need more then 4 strings?

I could lose all output on the G string and not notice for most of the set.

How often do you need more then 4 strings?

Personally, have yet to find a "need" for a five string.

I really don't understand how we are supposed to afford this

Typically places where the band is "the event" charge cover, aren't open when there's not a band playing, have an elevated stage, and house PA. And they don't book cover bands.

I really don't understand how we are supposed to afford this

In life, you get paid to do two types of things: the difficult and the unpleasant. "Playing music" doesn't really fall into either of those categories, unless you're at the top of the talent pyramid. In fact, any activity where the verb "play" is used is very difficult to get paid for doing...

It's fun being in a casual band... at first

For me, if I don't feel more energized at the end of playing with someone than I did before we started playing, I move on. Life's too short for the painful or unnecessary.
