The Official Short Scale Bass Club -- Part 2

project bass, i'd LOVE to hear some clips when you're done. i also record with a very short scale (25.5) custom bass, with mighty mite pick ups through a bassman 150 to get an entwistle-meets-crunt kind of garage punk sound which i can put Keith Levene style noise Guitar over the top of. i...

enough Guitarron fans here for a club?

yes! i'm feeling broadminded today ;-) i like how it responds well to a really agressive touch, i've always been hamfisted and you have to dig in with a Guitarron, it feels like a complete instrument you can get some lovely melodic chord partials on the 3 nylon strings at the same time as...

    "Tapping Instrument" or "Bass?"

pretty much sums up my philosophy, if you play your idea of bass parts on it its a bass. Play Don't worry :-) i'm really keen to hear some sound clips if its not a hassle, i'm seriously considering putting my name down for a 2nd hand i think this would fit my style. how do those thing...

Why Are Short Scale Basses Looked Down Upon?

if they're still looked down upon its because of ignorance & machismo baritone length is most comfortable for me too they have so much more character and personality to their sound, long scales can sound a little clinical and anonymous. it did take me a while to adjust to the smaller frets...

    7 string basses...

would you advise me to try a 6 before i go for a 7 or just go for it. i play a guitarron but i think the string spacing is narrower than a 6? theres a ridiculously cheap Chinese 7 on ebay but i hear they need setting up and theres no one round here i can rely on. wanted a 6 for the past 14...

    7 string basses...

they intrigue me- that should be a poll option! i can see a lot of potential particularly for someone like me who plays solo with a looping pedal I'd really rather try one before i buy , not much chance of that round here though since i can't even find a 6 to try out in the local shops
