How much would you pay for a 1983 Squier MIJ P bass?

I have a few of the early '80s SQ serial # Squiers. A lot of care and attention to detail went into the manufacturing of those instruments. They are as good if not better than the US American basses of the time and more similar to the late 60s- early 70s Fenders. At least $650-$750, depending on...

The Official Ibanez TMB Talman Bass Club

May I join this club? I've been experimenting w/ short scale and playing this TMB35 more and more lately because.. well, I really like it! I may mod it up a bit - paying attention to what you all have been doing! :)

    Ibanez active to passive ?

Also new to this thread I just recently picked up a mezzo 5'r as I am experimenting with shorter scale necks. Anyway, I took it to it's first gig last night and to my dismay experienced the same issue; fairly severe distortion when playing a bit harder or "digging in". I had two other basses...

How do I get this bass sound?

I'm fairly certain Joe got a blend of the amp and DI to his liking and fed that mix to the compressor. Again, pardon the extremely delayed response. I need to check in more often!

    Peavey MegaBass Club

Is it too late to ask for a number? I think I still have mine. :) It's a prototype from when I was helping Peavey with the design features of this amp. It may not have a serial# but I think there's an old Peavey print ad floating around that has a pic of myself and the amp on it. Btw, I used the...

Tecamp Puma vs. Genzler Magellan vs. Trickfish Bullhead

Trickfish is all USA made as well. Just for the record. And I use them- can't say enough about the tone and quality. They have a great array of cabs to pick from and the amps w/ the Pope pre are superb. You'll get a lot of thumbs up from FOH guys when they here your direct sound! :)

SOLVED! Can anyone identify this bass?

Again, I apologize for being late on this, I obviously need to check in on TB more often. This bass was a prototype fretless made by Jack Wilson (who I worked with on the TL5 and TL6s) and his short-lived The Bass Company (TBC Basses). It is a maple neck with an Ash or Maple body and a 1st...

    70-100W Combo amp under $300?

Joe - I have been on a new amp quest for the last few weeks and have played through a lot, I mean a LOT of gear. When it comes to an affordable, light, loud combo amp with good tone that can fill a small room.... yep, the Fender Rumble is taking no prisoners. You mentioned you didn't like...

What bass do you regret ever buying or selling?

Back in the early 1980s I sold a '64 Fender jazz. It was Olympic white w/ a matching headstock. 30 years later it turns out it was by far the nicest instrument I ever owned, and I've owned hundreds (kicks himself in the butt one more time).

    MXR M81 preamp!!!

I got that price from Bassplayer mag's site http://www.bassplayer.com/article/-mxr-m81-bass-preamp/153838 They say it'll list at $242.84 - which is an odd price anyway. I prefer your price quote of course.

    MXR M81 preamp!!!

I'll be at NAMM and plan to check out the Dunlop booth. I've had the M-80 for years and used it extensively so I'm pretty interested in the M-81. It's not the best environment to test drive anything but I hope to hear it in some fashion. Btw, the MSRP is listed at $240+ - not sure what the...

How do I get this bass sound?

I'm only about 8 and 1/2 years late in seeing this question but I'll answer anyway! That session was recorded at Sound Castle in Silverlake by Joe Chiccarelli through a Neve 8128 console and slammed through an 1176, The bass is an early 70's Precision with maple neck with an added Jazz bass...

CHARVEL Bass owners "show me your Charvels"

I still have that bass and it's amazing. I've used it on a ton of recordings - put flats on it and it pumps thru mixes like crazy! Thanks for that gorgeous piece!

SOLD FS/FT: Feeler Pedulla Nuance 5

That's a real pretty one! I couldn't imagine not having my Nuance bass. It has become a very useful and completely unique bass for me but I don't fault anyone for selling a bass. I'm just very pleased with mine.
