I have been contemplating the DZR10's myself for a PA system for my small jazz trio (Bass, guitar, vocals). Have you run them alone without bass backline, and without the sub? How do they carry the bass in typical venues like bars, restaurants etc.?

I don’t have experience with any particullar units, but one crucial feature is how long an IR they can process. It determines how low in the frequency spectrum it works. Which IR’s are you using?

You might also want to try to fit a second soundpost on the bassbar side. I haven’t tried myself, but it’s one of the tricks the rockabilly guys use to cut feedback. And it’s reversible…

I would keep the Rane AP13 preamp and your GK amp hooked up as they are now. Then use the insert points on the AP to add the compressor. The Rane AP13 seems to have both a parallel send/return for each channel as well as a series insert points...

My Yamahiko (E side only) also had a lot of signal, so it distorted the input of my amp/preamp. I installed a small capacitor in the jack connector, which solved the issue.

That’s awesome. Was it difficult to get it to track properly? Is there any latency in the sound? The reason I’m asking is that I am looking to increase the attack and fill out the sound, when playing pop/rock. (Should probably just double on an electric bass, but trying to avoid that :-)

I have an AI amp that i love myself. Can’t five any recommendations though, but it might be useful to others to hear if you use one or two channels. What about the HPF and notch filter, do you use those? Are you running a pickup or mic?

I think it greatly depends on the specific junction box, but passive ones are typically just a straight wire between the input and output jack. So it should not affect tone or impedance loading in any way…

I don’t know for sure, but whenever I hear “harmonic enhancement” I’m thinking about some sort of sutble saturation, similar to a tube preamp. Saturation adds even and/or odd order harmonics to the existing signal, and can make it sound both fuller and brigther without it sounding distorted...

For a piezo pickup recorded directly that sounds amazing. Must sound really great through an amp. Can’t wait to get mine installed :-)

Nice. We would love to hear how you got it trained with the Yamaha, and maybe some sound samples if possible How does it compare to playing you “normal” bass?

I dont know if it works the same on an EUB, but I mix a Ehrlund with a piezo pickup (Realist) on my bass using an Acoustic Image amp. The Ehrlund alone does not give me enough volume before feedback, så I use the HPF to cut the bottom out, and blend it with the Realist. On the Realist channel I...
