Double Bass NHØP tone on a Budget

NHOP used a Pierre Josephs String Charger, a magnetic pickup that mounted at the end of the fingerboard. The video Timm posted is the same concept.

Pierre is/was a luthier and bassist living in Larkspur, CA. Not sure if he's still around. He was an old timer but still gigging around town when I bought a bass from him in 2003.

Honestly I've never cared for the NHOP sound, but best of luck.

NHOP was a wonderful player and a great musician. I believe he used the three finger system for his right hand. Chris Mihn Doky is from that lineage of players.
He has a more modern approach with beautiful tone and vituoso technique. He does it on a Yamaha Silent Bass when touring or his DB.
