NBD: Melody Grabber (70s Gibson copy)

Nope, 34"! Feels very much like a P Bass in a lot of ways.

NBD: Melody Grabber (70s Gibson copy)

I got hold of this Grabber copy dead cheap on eBay a few months back, and today I finally got it playable, so I'm proclaiming this a NBD. It's supposedly from the 70s, made by Melody (no serial number). Anyone know anything more about them? All I really know about Melody is that they were in...

how many you have done this

I still play my first bass regularly (a Warwick RockBass Corvette) as I now use it for C F A# D# tuning, but it still makes me feel like I've dome a long way!

Do you take a spare bass to a gig.

Anybody play in a cover band just for fun?

I've played in numerous cover bands, some more serious than others, but they've all been for fun. I've never once been paid for a gig, but done dozens and dozens of them with cover bands and they've all been amazingly fun. I was also in a Muse tribute band for five years and we only did a...

    Cheapest bass you just LOVE

I love my Squier Mike Dirnt Precision. I got it in 2007 for around £250, and it's just absolute perfection for me. It feels great, sounds awesome, is nice and light and looks amazing. I've had all sorts of other more expensive basses but that's always been my go-to instrument.

    "Play it like this..."

I don't see the problem really, personally I feel you have to be pretty up yourself if you're unwilling to get over your ego and play as part of the team. If someone's written a song and they have a part in mind, play it. What's the harm? If you feel you can enhance it then go for it, but I...

    Two left hands on keys

I've only ever been in one band with a keyboard player and she stepped on my parts all the time. It got so bad and she was so unwilling to change that I switched to acoustic guitar and we dropped the bass entirely. That lasted for about a month before we kicked her out and I went back to bass.

    Advice on busking amps?

Some of you have honestly never heard of busking with an amp? Using an amp is more common than not doing so around these parts.
