Addendum -- Gibson wrote back, states that the year and make has a dual action, welded nut that cannot be removed. Funny, mine came off with threading and no shearing.... I sent back several photos with a very polite "please verify". --J

Shoot, that's old school to me -- it's the way I would use my first-generation Line 6 Bass Pod back in the 90's -- they even made a frame that could connect the Pod to a spare mic stand.
