Same here guys. The "Tone" is quite often in the fingers. Price is not always indicative of value. There are a lot of "Quality" low priced bass's out there.

In my opine, it's all about the sound and how YOU like it. Use whatever sounds "best" to YOU.

Howdy, Plugged into a Rumble 200 at the shop testing a Hofner Bass. Not looking to buy an Amp, but the sound coming out of that thing was incredible. And talk about light weight....... Ever since, have been looking to justify making a purchase.
