Flip, right on! But, over the years I've heard some "Bluegrass" bands use drums for percussion instead of a bass. I don't like it. If I never hear another drum in a song, it's okay by me. That's why I listen to Bluegrass!

We rehearse at least once a week, twice if we can slip it in. I think the main key is: Listen to each other. That's they only way we stay together. We listen.

I'd never throw away a bass. I inherited two, one I sold to a friend, the other I traded for a uke that I then sold.

Hi, If you don't mind me chiming in, my wife plays bass in our band, not me, but I introduced her to the bass, and this forum. Consider getting a standup acoustic bass if you haven't picked one already. You'll never regret it!

I sorta like it, but I'd still ask for some of my money back, if it plays that well. Most people react adversely to asymmetry. Who knows why. We have a guitar that has an asymmetrical unmatched backside, I don't like it.

Patina like this is from the reaction of the oils on the hands and the metal. Patina, in large enough amounts, is toxic. It needs to be cleaned off periodically. It might need to be re-fretted, and if I did that, I'd use a new neck. Whoever had this used it well, (or not so well) I'd ask for at...
