Contact GC and see what can be worked out. Personally, I love the character that comes with used instruments, as long as it doesn't disrupt playability.

Always. Just depends on the buyer. With out tuners, I bet you could at least get 30 to 40 bucks.
I just searched and non name brand necks are selling for 46. Yours has the name brand on it, so I have no doubt you could sell it.

I didn't read through the thread, so forgive me if I am being redundant.
The auto parts store (and Walmart) sells a can of Nev-r-dull.
This is a can that you open and pull little cotton balls out that have the proper solvent on them to remove that nasty green crap on your frets and make them shine.
When you are done making things clean, wipe the neck down with a warm slightly damp cotton cloth and then with a dry one.
You will then have a neck with a lot less DNA and tarnish on it.
As far as the damage on the neck finish, it is part of your own personal "roadworn series" and you either dig it or you don't.
I would return the bass in a heartbeat, but that's because I am not so enamored with used Fender USA basses as to think they are a lot better than a number of things that I can buy used for a lot less money.

Hi everyone, I called guitar center customer support to see if there was anything they could do about the price and they told me to call the store. So I called the store and the person I spoke to allegedly is the guy who took the bass in.
He tells me that the bass is considered good condition not “fair “. He told me that the neck wasn’t “that bad “and that there’s nothing they can do on the price. I just picked up a nice Rosewood Warmoth neck from the classifieds here but like I said really didn’t want to dump this much money in it. Going to try it out with the new neck on and hopefully then make a final decision.

Good luck with the Warmoth. I've had decent ones and horrible ones, where frets pop like crazy. Seriously pop. You'll be playing whack-a-mole and not a bass if you got a bad one. I still say to clean your original neck with naptha, and polish it. Since you now have 2 necks, go with the one that feels best
Yeah, I have bought at least 50 basses from GC's used gear pages, and probably returned approx. 1/3 of them due to "issues", some similar to your situation... I have had better luck taking it back in to my local GC to discuss any rebates due to discrepancies - I'd suggest that approach... FWIW, I've gotten some killer deals by buying this way, so it certainly isn't all bad... I will also add that your neck could be cleaned up pretty well - I've brought back worse "from the dead", lol...

Before the return policy runs out, I'd probably return it. Should you sell or trade the bass in the future, that "good" condition neck is all of a sudden going to be a concern with GC and anyone else and value will be affected.That's not a used neck as someone mentioned, it's an abused neck - I've seen older and well used basses with better necks than that. Looks almost like the player was using it as a cigarette holder on the first fret in one of the pictures.
If you had gotten a better price for it, I would probably consider keeping it but paying as much as you did and not getting a discount because of the condition, I'd return it personally. Use the Warmoth neck for something else or keep it as a spare but I wouldn't use it to make up for a bass with a fuggly neck you still have the option to return. Just my two cents.
