If memory serves there's some sticky tape holding it closed. Are you sure you got all 8 screws? 2 on top, 2 in each side, and two on the front panel (the highest up two, not the side ones) FWIW I ended up doing mine with velcro to hold it closed for easy access because I can't make up my mind ever.

I have both and I prefer the Lifeline. Keep in mind you’re reading a Yama thread so the opinions may lean a way. Something about the Yama is too articulate for me, like an EUB. I really dislike the sound of fretless bass and the Yama gives me those vibes. That’s with Labella 7710n’s though and...

Would this be a bad time to mention that I've gone back to Realist->TH500? It's a combination of simplicity, portability, and making it sound good enough with my hands. Least "basstasters" and "talkbass" opinion ever, I know.... I don't even know myself anymore ;)
