    New 2019 Rickenbacker Bridge

I did a brief check out of the new bridge that came installed on a 4003ac model. I like the new bridge with it's available adjustments, it feels quite solid, and it looks good too. I plan on installing the new v2 bridge on both a 2016 and a 2017 4003. I've no qualms about the few new screw holes...

No longer available 2017 Rickenbacker 4003 Jet Glo

That's a tempting piece and from your description appears to be a particular winner. I've been eying the new Matte Black 4003 models but caught sight of your listing and am giving some consideration. I may soon send you a PM with another question or two about it. Regards, Andrew.

Hello Brent, what is the weight of this one (lbs. and ozs.)?

    SOLD Rickenbacker 4003AC

I played one of those. It has a really lovely clear zing to the upper mids, with it's factory fresh strings it had a very piano like quality indeed. Perhaps due to the single truss rod and v2 bridge, unlike my other 4003 basses I couldn't detect any dead spots on the neck.

best Pyramid Gold flats choice for German Hofner.

"but,... damn, dude...". You don't get it. If Hofner and Pyramid strings are the same I could easily be faced with same issue of much brighter higher strings. I'm not out to spend more money just for redundancy. Other threads have mentioned unbalanced new sets from Pyramid as well. Despite the...

    SOLD 2016 Rickenbacker 4003W

I have a 4003W, and I prefer it over the standard maple versions. These generally weigh about a half pound lighter than the maples do (mine is 8.5 lbs). That along with it's satin finish makes it the notably more comfortable version.

best Pyramid Gold flats choice for German Hofner.

Correction : second photo is Pyramid branded, not Hofner branded. So is there an actual difference between their Gold "Pure Nickel" flats and their more commonly labelled "Chrome Nickel" flats? If they are indeed the same then it's Pyramid's manufacturing inconsistencies that is causing the...

best Pyramid Gold flats choice for German Hofner.

Yes, it's had me confused. Both sets below were purchased maybe 15 or so years ago, although I can't recall which dealer I got them from. The first photo "Chrome-steel" are long scale. Second photo "Pure Nickel" are Hofner short scale, although it doesn't state the scale on the packaging...

best Pyramid Gold flats choice for German Hofner.

I have two of the types' packagings/labels in front of me... * No.640 Pure Nickel Wire Wound (short scale, green silk). * No. 640/1 Chrome-steel Flat Wire Wound (these are long scale, pinkish lavender silk). Looking online many packages read : * Chrome-Nickel Flat Wire Wound, Polished.

best Pyramid Gold flats choice for German Hofner.

Hello gang, I have my 2002 German made Hofner Cavern that have had a few string changes over the years and I'm not sure what mix of Pyramid and/or Hofner flats may currently be on it now (all have green silk ends). The E and A are warm and thuddy, but the G and D have some twang to them...

SOLD Fender 75 reissue FSR - 7.9lb Price Drop!!

I'm also one of those who prefers/requires the models with a much wider nut and thicker neck, otherwise I might have already made a move on this. But nevertheless, this is one of those posts I look at everyday and ponder over. That thing looks delicious! A recent and rare model, probably plays...

SOLD Lakland 44-51 - Like New and Light!

Huh??? Seems to me that by TRADING basses, as well as TRADING jalopies (cars) both parties would end up with the same number of each that they started with. But back to the original subject... seems like a fine instrument and indeed the butterscotch is striking. Here's hoping for a pleasing...

SOLD LEFTY Höfner Custom Shop Euroburst '62 Violin Bass

The output on those Hofner pickips is actually very strong which may be hard to realize from the nature of those early 60's recordings and mixes. Their thick tone is also excellent for old school/low-fi Dub and Ska styles too. Warm and wooly in spades. Also, perhaps of interest to potential...

SOLD '62 MIJ RI Jazz w Fretless Warmoth

Looks like a fine piece put together with choice components (rather than leftovers). Good luck to anyone hoping to find another unlined Fender, let alone with an ebony board. Amber tint on that neck looks great, as well as the tort guard. I think a black guard could suit it fine too. So for all...

...but hopefully it finds itself in the hands/home of another appreciative owner. So, yeah it great for early Beatles and Classic British, but it's equally ideal for other classic, older music styles as well. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Cheers, Andrew
