    Scott Thunes is not only my favorite Zappa bassist, but one of the best I've ever heard in my life. Massively underrated both as a musician and as a bass virtuoso. Tom Fowler is also a favorite, still can't believe how well he played some of the impossible parts in Echidna's Arf (of You).

    Since she's been in the spotlight lately, here's one old favourite. It's not a 'fretless bass record' but it has some of the tasties fretless basslines of the 80's, this one played by the great John Giblin.
