The "Official" MTD (non-US made) Club Part 2

Skip_NJ: it's worth a trip to Sam Ash in Manhattan for MTDs. I was in there recently and they had all the Kingston models in a bunch of finishes, 4s, 5s, lefties... since they took over Manny's and made it all guitars they've devoted a whole big room to basses which is pretty sweet. Side...

    New york bass shop?

IMO most guitar shops are lacking in the bass department - Uminov, Ludlow Guitars, 30th St. They're cool to browse though. Check out Rudy's new Soho store for sure, I've heard it is amazing. Sam Ash (ex-Manny's location, RIP) was recently renovated and decently stocked last time I went - MTD...

Yep. Serial number is 0000001A from the Czech factory. It's a tobacco burst ;) Also, the top is an uncommon wood. I can't remember what it is (duh, sorry so bad with specs) but it was something he said he wished he had more of... How's that for brain cells? If I remember (or see him to ask)...

MT told me about it but I forget to remember these things... 35" scale, 24 fret (w/ zero fret), basswood body, rosewood neck, (I think I remember flamed maple top), J style Bartolinis, Feiten Tuning System.

How do you learn to sing and play bass at the same time?

I've been a singing bassist for years. The #1 very best investment you can make is to get yourself a vocal coach who can teach you the physicality behind singing (or if you're motivated you can research it on your own). Just as in bass playing the more technical knowledge you have of your...

    Flats for Metal?

You could split the difference and do a half round. More presence than flats, less clack than rounds.

Hi NickInMesa! I used the fretless on "Tell On You" and "One". I used the one-off (tobacco burst in photo) for the other three tunes ;)

Granted - but I'll take it anywhere I can get it!

    Official Ampeg Club!: Part II

Sounds great - I'm playing it now through a vintage Acoustic 4x15 reflex. The weight is a serious trade-off though. If I had the budget I would add a smaller amp for gigging and leave this bad boy in the studio...

It's a fantastic bass, plays so well! I'm a big ol' fan of both the man and his basses.

    Vegetarian Club Anyone?

Cheese is so difficult - but protein and calcium are lacking without it and the soy alternatives are gross. I only buy from companies who are socially responsible too.

    Official Ampeg Club!: Part II

Bigger, actually! With the road case it weighs more than my bass and I together.
