You'll be more impressed if you get brass string saddles. Check out the new 5 string j-bass which comes with them factory fitted

If it was me I'd stick with that gauge and try some cobalt flats or nylon tapewounds. The dampener also helps give you the vintage sound. Let us know how you're getting on

How would you go about converting a schecter bass to passive? Could it be done by just adding a switch to cut out the active circuit? Many thanks

Some old school guys over engineer the problem, unscrew their strap buttons and put a metal washer there to keep the strap attached. No need

Standard plumbing clear rubber tap washers fit and do the trick just fine
