Rustling noise out of A string

Those are some good advices. I always bend the string before cutting. That "twist" is something new to me. I'll have this in mind in the next new set. I hardly believe I would ever get a replacement string since I live in Greece, but I'll try if it happens again. Though this would mean that I...

Rustling noise out of A string

Its a G&L L2500 Tribute. The headstock is this. I'd like to update that I changed the A string with an old one (same gauge and type and almost the same tunepeg winding turns) and the rattling is gone. Weird. Why would a string behave like that? It's not that its ONE string. I've come across...

And what if the set has a string like that? Do you go and buy a new one? That sound expensive :(

Rustling noise out of A string

This bass has a string retainer for A and E strings so I was hoping it does the job of keeping the right angle. I will try and keep my string longer to get more winds on the peg.

Rustling noise out of A string

I am having a weird noise coming out of my A string. Sounds like a spring playing along my string. In the link (or file) you can hear me repeating the open E, G, A . I believe you can hear that noise when the A comes in. My bass is a G&L L2500 tribute (indonesian). I 've come across the same...

    Home recording bass track

Hey guys! I'd love to hear some advice on recording bass tracks at my cubase. This tracks will be used in a full band project sometime, so I think I am looking for a good dry bass signal. The bass is an active hot g&l l2500. My poor soundcard is an audigy 2 platinum ex sounblaster. This...

    Whats the point of fivers?

if it's good enough for Jaco, then it's good enough for me... Inherit the wind. 4 strings go to heaven. 5 strings go everywhere :P

    Cleaning strings with WD-40!

I admit I haven't read all the posts in this thread. I want to say that I used a contact cleaner (oil free) to clean my strings. And it worked amazingly well. It is a great advantage not to have to remove the strings for boiling. You just put something waterproof under the strings to protect the...

Obsessed with trying to find the perfect tone?

Sometimes what you hear is not what others hear. Your ears tend to get less clear sounds while playing loud for some hour so you will always need to tweak your sound through your amp when the real problem might just be about your tired ears (and bad mood). And don't forget. Even if Roger waters...

    Licking 9V

Guys just don't try this if your car won't start. 9v battery lickin' is a very old test (origins lost deep in time). I used to test batteries for my toys when I was a small boy. And then I became a bassist. So nothing is wrong with lickin 9v's ...right? huh?

Going from 4 to 5 (merged threads)

Not sure if this happened to anyone else. Back in time: when i swapped to a 5er, I had no clue as to what the strings must be tuned into. So I guessed I had to tune EADGB. Not a bad tuning for an amatuer, but I had a BEADG set on this bass, so I spent a hard week trying to play with a really...

What exactly is a preamp, and why would I want one?

Excuse me for using this thread. I just bought the ebs microbass which I think is going to be a realy nice tone shaping tool. What I am not sure of is how to bypass the heads. I was told that I need to use the head's RETURN fx loop to bypass the head's eq. But is that all? I just plug the bass...

More than $800 for a Tribute?

Not really comforting, but the exact same price and music market conditions can be found in Greece. Fortunatelly we can order musical instruments via german or french Online stores, dealing real good prices.
