    I would not be concerned about metal dust either. Just do it outside if you are. But a few swipes of 440 sandpaper would probably make even the toughest string feel better. I never really thought about it. It’s about time to change strings. Maybe I’ll get some DR Hi Beams and give it a try.

    If you say so. Get me the serial numbers and we’ll talk. Those pictures won’t hold up to a forensic analysis. If it is the same bass. It was clearly stolen and sold to a pawn shop or something and is being resold. Simple as that.

    Have you tried the Rotosound Flats? They are quite stiff. Not floppy at all and quite lively sounding for a flat. My Mikro wears flats but the Stingray wears rounds.

    You are describing ground wound strings. They exist. But I’ve never tried them.

    Think about it. They take a slab and slice it into thin sheets and process it sequentially.

    If both basses were made by Rickenbacker at the same time period they may be made form the same tree and have very similar grain patterns. Without the serial number you can’t know.

    Gonna throw some love in here for Pete Townshend. Not technically a good guitarist but lots of energy and great songwriting ability. And isn’t that what the guitar is about? Also Glen Campbell. Check out his 12 string records.
