    NBD Wow!

A Duke was my first decent bass. The main reason I got it was I’m a lefty and I figured the headless design would work okay lefty, and it did, although the volume knob did get in my way. Once I played it at an outdoor gig in the fall where the temps dropped into the 50’s, and I thought my...

    History of McCartney's Lost bass

The one part of this story that seems sketchy to me is the original purchase. What are the odds that any shop would have a left handed bass in stock in 1961?

Thoughts on a sedan that can hold a 212 cab

My previous car was a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta sedan, and the Genz Benz XB 4x10 I had it the time would fit nicely in the trunk, with a little room to spare.

"Check In" here before and after your gigs, set 3 - everyone's drunk now!

Anyone else in the southeast have their gig cancelled due to weather tonight? It would have been our first in a few months as we don’t play very frequently the last few years. I’m sure those of you north of us laugh at the thought of things being closed down due to a few inches of snow, but...

    JACK CASADY BASS PLAYERS CLUB!

Has anyone else been eyeing the new Guyker Gibson/Epiphone style 3-point bridge? It’s due to be released next month, but is available right now for pre-order at a supposedly reduced price of $69.99, which is about half the cost of the Hipshot. Looks like it may have less mass than the Hipshot...

Help: I need a white headless bass from the 80s.

I had one of these back in the day: a Kramer Duke. Aluminum neck, phenolic fingerboard, decent pickup, 30” scale. NOT recommended for outside gigs in cooler weather; that aluminum neck will freeze your fretting hand, and the tuning changes significantly with temperature changes. Mine was...

    Whatcha watching?

And far better than the reboot King’s son oversaw a few years ago. We finally broke down and bought it on BluRay a couple of years ago; it’s one of our favorites.

    Lefty or Right

Let him play left-handed. It’s not nearly as hard to find left-handed instruments as it used to be. When I started learning in the early 70’s, pretty much the only way to get a left handed bass or guitar was to custom order one from Fender. Now, you can walk into almost any decent size shop and...

    Show Your Spoiled Dog Pictures.

This is Hudson. Apparently a full-blooded Husky, he showed up in our yard a few months back (we live in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere in SC). He had a collar but no tag and no chip. After a few weeks of trying to find his owner, we adopted him. This is his preferred sleeping position.

    Cleaning nitro body

Luthier Ted Woodford (on YouTube) uses lighter fluid regularly for cleaning. It appears to be harmless to finishes, fingerboards, and plastic.
