Thoughts on a sedan that can hold a 212 cab

I have a 2020 Honda Civic Type R which is a hatchback sedan and I can very easily fit my Fender Rumble 500 2x10 in the back along with a few basses. I’m pretty sure it could handle my Eden 4x10 as well.. if you’d like I’ll take a picture of the amps in the trunk for reference.

Soooooo wish I would’ve bought one of these in late 2019 but opted for Accord instead because wife can’t drive stick. Hope you’re enjoying it.

You could simply downsize your Aguilar 212 to a barefaced 112. The barefaced will be just as loud as the Aggie, but have no issues with any kind of sedan transport.

Putting it in the backseat will be awkward. It'll probably fit, but getting it in (and out of) there will be a trick. Hopefully the backdoors open wide.

I had an xB for ages. The Honda Fit was the only vehicle that seemed similarly cavernous based on the exterior dimensions. Also not a sedan and also out of production.

Not technically a sedan, but I had to make sure someone mentioned the Fit. It's crazy how much space they have with the seats down! I remember a dedicated thread for the Honda Fit a while ago, too. Solid cars, my only wish is for better gas mileage.

My "gig" car is a Ford Focus ST. Cavernous with the seats folded down, I carry 2 basses, 2 2x12 cabs plus other stuff and could probably double that if needed. Thinking about a little Ford Maverick truck with a bed cover when I replace it.

Hi everyone. After many years of SUVs, pickups and wagons, I’ve been thinking of getting a sedan. However the bass player part of my brain says, no way that works.

Any ideas on a midsize or smaller sedan with enough trunk space for an Aguilar 212 cab?

Prius, it will hold a 212 cab and a whole lot of other stuff.for instance, in mine I had an Eden 112 and a Bassline 115 both in a single road case, and Eden 210, two Fender basses in AKA hard cases, a gig bag ,clothes for a week and still got 46 mph.

My previous car was a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta sedan, and the Genz Benz XB 4x10 I had it the time would fit nicely in the trunk, with a little room to spare.

Haven't attempted the trunk, but the GS212 I have fits fine in my Camry's back seat. It's an 07, but I've had it fit into almost ANY generation of Camry (I think I've owned almost every one up to the 07 model, aside from the 1st gen).

As long as you don't have to lift it over a "lip", you should be okay. Must trunks I've seen nowadays should accommodate the ol' "tip and shove". Also a God-send when loading wheelchairs or associated ambulatory devices.

I used to fit an Eden 4x10XLT in the back seat of my Cavalier coupe. It was a tough in/out but it worked for years.

I couldn’t imagine a 2x12 not fitting in the trunk of most sedans, but if that’s the case I’d consider going modular with 2 1x12’s. They should fit with ease.

I’d just get the car I want and figure the bass amp situation out after. It really shouldn’t be an issue unless you are using an 8x10. Funny enough I was able to fit an 8x10 in the back seat of my Dodge Intrepid. I drive a minivan or hatchback wagon these days so gear hauling is never a problem.

I used to fit a small PA with mains (12s) monitors (10s) board and sub, a 2x12 bass cab, 2 cases, alongside with leds, stands and cables etc in an imprezza hatchback with the seats down. Hatchbacks are the real answer over sedans for working musicians, imho. Fit in small parking places, lots of cargo room.

1996 Buick Roadmaster sedan, last full frame LT1 V8 Buick sedan, rides like glass, and hauls ass! Prices range from cheap drivers to around twenty grand for one in like new condition.

Very cheap to insure, and around 20mpg on the highway, even at sustained 80mph.

Drives, handles, weighs, and sized much like a 1966 GTO, which was a mid size car, but much safer.

Yup, I used to have a 1973 Buick LeSabre. I could fit one 2x15 Fender Bassman cabinet in the trunk along with my 400PS amp. I had a second 2x15 cabinet that I would put in the backseat, but I had to take out the bottom cushion to get it to fit in. Basses rode up front with me. Even though one of those cabinets would have been sufficient to play anywhere, I always brought both.

I did that with a mountain bike back when I mountain biked. The Honda Element was advertised as able to contain a fully assembled bike, so I wanted to verify. I’m assuming a bass cab is an easier fit check.

Bought this Lexus ES350 new in 2007. It hauled my Aguilar GS 212 in the trunk (casters forward) until I retired from gigging in 2015. Still our daily driver. As a bonus it has a 6 CD changer and a cassette player. Try and find those two features on a new vehicle. And in my last few years of gigging it would carry my complete PA along with the Aguilar, a bass amp, and my bass. Edit: Sometimes two basses.

That’s always the challenge haha, not many folks drive stick anymore. But it is certainly a lot of fun, maybe a little too fun.

The "trunk" (liftback) area of the Prius line from 2010-2015 can definitely fit that, and there are other benefits, too (50+ mpg).

Can't speak for the ones beginning in 2016, but they look a bit smaller to me. Give it a try. I have brought all of my bass gear to a car dealer before specifically to test trunk space.

I had a 2003 Camry that was my gig mobile for ages. It fit my Berg CN212 perfectly in the trunk, along with pedalboard, 2 D class amps, 2 wash lights, chuavet light controller.

Bought another Camry to replace it in 2024, and the truck was a bit smaller, but fit all the same stuff.

In the back seat goes my dual bass gig bag, carpet, and rocknroller cart.

Wife in the front passenger seat.

What I can't fit in the trunk is my Mesa Subway 115. That usually stays at my guitar player's house, but when I do move it, it goes only on the back seat.
