Thoughts on a sedan that can hold a 212 cab

What ever you choose- be sure the is no “lift over” to get equipment into the trunk. You want to be able to slide in and out without dropping the cabinet into a hole.

do any sedans have that feature? I happen to agree with you which is why I drive the undignified Forester.

I also play DB. I recently bought a Toyota Highlander because I waned a larger vehicle. I used to have a Matrix and a Taurus station wagon. Though the matrix was not a sedan, I wasn’t an suv. It easily fit a DB with the neck by the gear shift.
Maybe a Ford Fusion? Time to go shopping.

Buying sedan to haul gear is like buying a truck to autocross. Sure, it can be done, but it's not the ideal tool for the job.

1965 Dodge Dart 2-door. I removed the back seat and build a flat plywood platform. Luckily the door would swing wide and the front seat back folded forward a bunch.

I used this Honda Accord by the barricades to haul my fEarful rig years ago . The 15/6 in the trunk with my basses and amp rack and the sub in the back seat . The top cab is about the size of any 212 I have seen .

I had a Nissan Maxima for several years (2016 model). It had a huge trunk that could easily hold a 2x12 cab. If memory serves, I could get everything for a gig in there, including a an amp head, and Mono double bass case. It was nice being able to shut the trunk and have everything 100% concealed.

Edit: The Maxima is NOT a small sedan. I didn't read the original post closely enough. But it's a great hauler for gear.

Haven't attempted the trunk, but the GS212 I have fits fine in my Camry's back seat. It's an 07, but I've had it fit into almost ANY generation of Camry (I think I've owned almost every one up to the 07 model, aside from the 1st gen).

My Ampeg VB-410 has similar dimensions, 27.8" H x 22.8" W x 17.5" D, though not exactly those of the Aguilar SL 212, 28.62" H x 19" W x 18" D. It easily fits in the trunk of my 202 Camry.

Not sure why the MB Subway 1x15 does not fit, 19.375" H x 18.25" W x 18.25" D. Perhaps the additional depth is the issue.

I do wonder about this topic from time to time. I have no problem fitting my gear into my crew cab F250, the problem comes trying to park it in the city for gigs. I keep looking for a low mileage Honda Element for my daughter when she gets her license later this year, it will accommodate her growing surfing habit and then I could borrow it for gigs in town.

Amen. While not exactly a sedan..THIS was my rig Back in early 2000's. (Painted myself). 89 Ford Crown Vic Wagon. PLENTY o Room, and then some.

Wagons are the most practical of all the vehicles Still. SUVs are really just smaller (than my example) /taller Wagons.

After that it was (2) Older Jeep Cherokees 89 & 90.

Then a beat 89 Chrysler Minivan.

89 Toyota Pickup

89 Ford Taurus SHO (Oooh, sedan).

02 Nissan Xterra, Plenty of Room

02 Subaru Outback WAGON.

2016 Jeep wrangler JKU (4 dr) 3.6 [NOT RECOMMEND] Ok room, sucky mileage, and at 104K "The Death Tick". .

I'm also in the market for a 'New' vehicle, btw.


All these vehicles handled an SWR Goliath III 410. by the Subaru Outback, I had switched to 2, 112 cabs, and now one Mesa SW 212 cab, which fits in the POS Jeep Wrangler Easy Peasy.

Point is a 212 SHOULD fit in the back seat of most modern sedans, if it doesn't fit in the trunk.
BUT, an SUV (Tall Wagon) makes it MUCH easier, not bending to lift something out from deep withing a sedan's trunk.

I got a Hyundai Ioniq 5 (not a sedan, therefore inelegant) in November and have not played a show yet with my own amps. Assuming they will all fit but, admittedly, the trunk is oddly shaped. I had a 2007 Jetta that could hold an Avatar B212 in the trunk, along with my amp. I had a early 2000s GTI hatchback before that and I could get my Avatar B210 and Ashdown 15 plus amp in the trunk, seats up, hatch closed, and it was totally hidden from view.

No gigs until May. Will report back then.
