    EBMM StingRay Special Club

Unfortunately some bad news - I noticed that 14th fret of the G string was either making no sound or sounding one note above what it should. I took the bass to Mike Lull (he is local to me) and he advised that with how much it would cost to true the frets in that area of the neck I should...

    EBMM StingRay Special Club

Here's a short clip I put together of my 5H I put together - my attempt at a Fenderish neck pickup sound with the hum split, treble all the way down, and mids all the way up. One of my favorite parts about the bass is how useable all setting of the preamp and pickup selector are. Let me know...

Thank you! It really is a great color. I’ve actually a set of TI’s sitting in my desk drawer but I love how it sounds with the slinkies too much to change.

This worked perfectly! Looks like this is pretty normal. I’ll post more pictures soon, it truly is an incredible bass.

Makes sense! Will do. So the buzz when coming into contact with the pole pieces is normal?

    EBMM StingRay Special Club

Got mine and absolutely love it, I spent a good couple hours with it and it very likely the finest bass I’ve ever played. An 8lb 6oz 5 string feels incredibly light. One small issue: When in series and single coil mode (single humbucker model) if my fingers come into contact with the pole pieces...

I love this combo so much, congrats! I’m trying to figure out if I can justify a 2H in that color.

Thank you! Can’t wait to see it in person. I’m still reading through the thread, what color/configuration do you have?

    EBMM StingRay Special Club

Thank you! 8lbs 6oz, which I was thrilled with. It’s a whole pound lighter than my 74’ RI Jazz which I already find to be reasonably comfortable.

what are some bass guitars with distinct tone?

I agree with this list 100%. The problem is that everyone is going to be inclined to list their favorite bass as distinctive sounding. This list seems pretty objective to and I too can identify pretty much all of these on a recording.

Quality Difference Between Fender American Pro and Custom Shop

The custom shops have a definite “mojo” factor about them, there’s just something so cool about an FCS bass for lack of a better term. As far as actually quality/precision/etc? Corona has gotten scary good, I’d argue on that end they’re on par with the CS.

varsatile pickups for studio P-J bass

Dimarzio Model P and Model J set. The model P does a decent milder P sound with volume rolled back, sounds amazing for the slightly more aggressive midrangey P sound, and just “feels” good to play. The Model J bridge gets all your classic J bridge tones but fuller and more useable in my opinion...

    Squier Classic Vibe 70's PBass?

They are fantastic basses, I played several while looking for a bass for my girlfriend (she ended up deciding to learn guitar and bought a classic vibe tele) and I was blown away by how nice they were, they aren’t that far from many $2000 basses quality wise. Just a solidly built P bass.
