Got mine and absolutely love it, I spent a good couple hours with it and it very likely the finest bass I’ve ever played. An 8lb 6oz 5 string feels incredibly light. One small issue:
When in series and single coil mode (single humbucker model) if my fingers come into contact with the pole pieces (and they often do when playing finger style) I get a horrible loud ground hum type buzz. Is this normal?

Screw the pickup down a bit. These neo pickups have really strong pull. They don't need to be as close to the strings as other pickups do. Also don't whack em.
Makes sense! Will do. So the buzz when coming into contact with the pole pieces is normal?
I’d have to hear it in person. Try the fix and don’t whack the pickups. See how that goes.
This worked perfectly! Looks like this is pretty normal. I’ll post more pictures soon, it truly is an incredible bass.
What color combo did you get? There has been such a rush of incoming Specials I've lost track.
Back in the early 80's I procured a '78 Music Man Stingray (swapped a Thunderbird for it). It was my main bass for about twelve years. I painted it various colors over the years and converted it to fretless (blame Pino). Eventually I sold it, but I always missed it. Thirty years later, and back in a band for the first time in decades, I got another Stingray--and there was that familiar tone I had missed all those years. But the weight proved to be too much for me and I reluctantly sold it after a few months. So I'm thrilled to have just ordered the third Stingray of my life: this (much lighter) Special. It arrives on Thursday.
