    Experience with Taperwound strings?

Very Much Correct. My intent was to provide a visual to those that have never come across a tapered string. Cheers.

Blackstar Fly 3 or Joyo Ma-10B

No, it doesn't work that way. Power (Watts) is defined by energy (Volts) x current (Amperes). If the Blackstar outputs 3W, you can't automatically double the power by adding another load (2nd speaker). What is relevant to amplification is something called impedance matching. The law of maximum...

Photo of Mustang Bass Bodies - With No Pick Guard?

Yes, this is an old post that I am replying to ... Check out the awesome Mustang with no pickguard that Marciano Cantero plays in the music video for "Y ahora te vas" by Los Enanitos Verdes on YouTube. Don't know if the link is allowed but here goes:

    Who Made Pedulla Strings?

UPDATE 2: The Super Steps turned out to be exposed-core and not tapered-core. They sound great, but the feeling/vibration is obviously different. I would definitely buy again, but will continue looking in the mean time.

    Experience with Taperwound strings?

(Adding this as general information to an old post.) Tapered strings minimize the contact area at the bridge which should translate to more sustain. Too much contact can have a muting/dampening effect. This is more of a factor in thicker strings, so tapered strings are usually found in B and E...

    Who Made Pedulla Strings?

UPDATE: Found LaBella Super Steps SS45 (4-string) and SS45B (5-string) that seem to match all the Pedullas closely. (The president of LaBella is R. Cocco Jr., so that makes sense as well.)

    Who Made Pedulla Strings?

Same issue here. I didn't even know he retired! I'm looking for a PS5A replacement for a Thunderbass ET-5. I've come across taperwound sets by Fender, SIT, and DR but have not yet ordered.

    Amp repair: Traynor Bloc 40B

An older version of the schematic. (June 1984). Things to try: 1. Plug in headphones or line out and play. If not distorted, then the preamp is good and the problem is in the amp stage. 2. Remove the front grille and play to make sure it's not rattling. 3. Remove amp from enclosure using 4...

    The best 34" 5-string bass?

The only under-$2000 5-string I've encountered that has a B string comparable to the Thunderbass is the Ibanez BTB "Longhorn" (600, 700 series) - but it's a 35." Neck-thru body, Bartolini electronics, exotic finishes -- all the cool features for around $1000.

what strings do you pedulla thunderbass players use?

At the risk of necro-posting ... The saddle of the Thunderbass is very (very) narrow. (It uses little "pulleys" mounted on a thread.) You must use tapered strings - "fat" strings will jump the saddle. This very quickly narrows down your string options. They are also hard to find locally...

    Pedulla strings

La Bella "Super Steps" are the tapered version of the Hard Rockin' Steels mentioned earlier. (I buy them from the Pedulla e-store which is cheaper than other places on-line.) Cheers.

The tapered La Bella strings are the Super Steps.
