Who Made Pedulla Strings?

La Bella. As far as I know they still sell their strings but only direct. Well, since they announced that's what they were doing...
Some years back, 20 or more, I think it was R. Cocco or something like that. They spun off as their own company but didn't last too long.

Same issue here. I didn't even know he retired! I'm looking for a PS5A replacement for a Thunderbass ET-5. I've come across taperwound sets by Fender, SIT, and DR but have not yet ordered.
UPDATE: Found LaBella Super Steps SS45 (4-string) and SS45B (5-string) that seem to match all the Pedullas closely. (The president of LaBella is R. Cocco Jr., so that makes sense as well.)
I don't intend to de-rail the entire thread, but Google isn't helping me much: what are taperwound strings good for? I've never heard of them.

I bought a Rapture-5 in the 90’s and in the owner’s manual it stated Pedulla Strings were made by R. Cocco.

Tapered B strings are the best!!
UPDATE 2: The Super Steps turned out to be exposed-core and not tapered-core. They sound great, but the feeling/vibration is obviously different. I would definitely buy again, but will continue looking in the mean time.

im not surprised that labella made pedulla strings, i kind of knew it by how they feel.
anyhow, I use pedulla strings on my carvin basses and im trying to find a replacement, i really like super steps but they are a bit expensive, if i cant find pedulla ithink i will use RX.
what are you guys using instead to replace the unreplaceable pedulla strings?

Is it safe to say that Pedulla used to ship with R. Cocco strings and then switched to LaBella? Or would Cocco strings be the same that were shipping with basses in the later years? I'm wanting the same ones I had been buying from Pedulla in the 2000s and on til retirement.
I bought several sets of both steel and nickel Pedulla strings back in the day for my Raptures and haven’t found a direct replacement in terms of being taper wound on all strings (but not exposed core like La Bella Super Steps). I loved the Pedulla steels, a great all around string even though I am not always crazy about SS strings, while I felt the nickels went dead in the midrange compared to D’Addario XLs and Ernie Ball Nickel Plated Slinkies, which to my ears never really go fully dead. That said, compared to all the other basses I’ve owned in nearly 40 years - Pedullas sound great with anything - round, flat, half round, nickel, steel, brand new or 5 years old.
