    Dingwall Owners Club

I use EB Slinkies on my SP1-5, and they fit. I guess most of the long scale sets should work.

What is your current recording rig?

Interesting thread: - Computer: whatever Apple machine is around - interface: Steinberg UR22 - Direct signal from a Radial JDI - In parallel: preamp of some sort (I like my Jule Monique a lot, but also use an Origin SV via an Origin Compressor or some Darkglass pedal and compressor). That way I...

    API Select TranZformer LLX

Has anyone compared the tranzformer to the new Source Audio Zio? Seems to be a similar type of pedal - analog, clean, with high quality components...

The OE SV is an Ampeg/Fridge in a box. The cabsim indeed has a roll-off on top; just what a cab of this type also would do. In order to get more treble, one can use the EQ and the blend knob. I have used it for all in-ear/PA stuff for the last year, and it is easy to get an amp/cab sound out of...

    Jule Amps Monique part 5

I don't think thats right. What is your signal chain? Can you try DI into a Full-Range system? While the Monique is not the brightest Amp, the treble/sensitivity controls allow to add high frequencies. Does the treble knob anything if you turn it up? Maybe you have a tube problem...

Origin effects Cali76 Compact Bass compressor metering weirdness

Mine does that as well - if compression is strong, it stays on yellow. Can you try and set it to lightest compression (i.e. low input) and see if the light alternates between red and yellow?

I don't like the sound of the B string

If you don't like the sound of a B-string, don't use it. My goal with 5-stringers is to improve my technique and the setup of the bass so that the transition between say a E on the E-string and a D on the B-string sounds pretty much seamless. It can be done...

    Origin Effects BASSRIG

For recording: DI track is clean, without compression. I add compression later in the software. Question 2 really depends on what you are after in the mix. When recording, I normally use HPF set at around 50Hz, and cut the highs only at 1kHz or so, in order to remove the sizzling noise. Live I...

    Origin Effects BASSRIG

If I understand correctly the mix knob only adds drive to the signal chain. EQ and Cabsim are in the chain (in the DI out) no matter how you set the mix knob. If you record, and want a direct signal, you need to set up a parallel direct path via your Radial DI.

Availability of Fender basses in Europe

To me, they don't have the Fender vibe as for Ps. Good comment though...it might be worthwhile checking out G&L (LB100) or Laklands, there are good options out there nowadays.

G&L LB-100 and JB - are other pickups compatible?

G&L LB100 (US): yes, standard replacement PUs fit without problems!

Does anyone know what the power level is on the Amp Out? Can it drive a power amp directly or is it supposed to go into a preamp?

    Yamaha BBP35 vs BB435 - opinions?

I would not say weak, but simply modern voiced. I replaced the PUs in my BBP35 by Delanos, mainly because the SC was humming, and it made a difference in the sound. It now sounds much closer to the classic P-sound, which I really like, and the bridge PU is noise cancelling and dead quiet now...

A question for Italian and French bass players?

If you choose the legal (safe) path, and pay customs fees and import tax, you do not save a lot of money by importing stuff from the US. I have done it a few times, but only with stuff I cannot get in Europe at all, or is hard to find.

    Vintage Precision bass

If you want to sell locally in Europe, try the basschat UK website; they can help you over there. If you want to go with a dealer, Andy Baxter or thebassgallery are places to look at. Of course, if you sell globally, this is the place to ask for help...
