Vintage Precision bass

Hi,
I’m in the UK and have a P bass that I’d like to sell but because of it’s vintage (1960 to 1963 identified through its serial number), I am hoping for some advice please, on suitable websites where I may advertise it and of course get some idea as to its value. Thanks.

I believe you have to be a Supporting Member to ask a “what’s it worth?” question on Talkbass. But you can certainly ask about where to find comparable prices. I’d start by making a detailed list about your bass - items that are original, items that have been replaced, any significant modifications and anything original that makes the bass stand out, and use this for comparison shopping. For value, look on Talkbass Classified for currently for sale and sold basses similar to yours, as well as Reverb, Ebay (current and completed listings), and major retailers like Gruhn Guitars, Chicago Music Exchange, Norman’s Rare Guitars, and others that might pop up on Google. I have both a Jazz and Precision from the 1960s and the market seems to consistently place higher values on Jazz Basses.

Basschat is a UK based forum just like Talkbass, you should try there or look at their sales.

There are also many vintage shops in UK. I stopped at one called New King's Road Vintage with a heck of an inventory, and I'm sure any one of these shops can give you a valuation.
