    I play way too hard...

You gotta learn to detach yourself from the emotion of the song (not entirely, but just enough to stay in control).. you're not performing for yourself, you're performing for the people in the audience. I think everyone tends to tighten their grip and attack a little more strongly when a song...

Talk to the guy at krappy guitars and I bet you could get him to make you anything you can dream up.

    Muse goofing around...

youtube routes around the damage: If that one gets deleted, just do a search for 'muse quelli che' and you'll get a bunch of hits.

He gets a heck of a sound out of those nylon strings.

Hal leonard book one and it's complete failure to explain muting

I like Gary Willis' technique too: Try both this and the floating thumb, see what works for you. I've fallen into a sort of hybrid of the two, using pieces from both.

How do you get a song to sound like a song?

If you're really really good at what you do.. you can jump around as much as you want. Take a listen of 'Echoes' for an example of that. ;) Though they do revisit themes throughout the song, there's several sections that really break the pattern.

    joe cocker translated - woodstock

I can't load the link either, but I'm pretty sure it's this (or another video like it): I've seen another version of the same thing at some point in the past. And yes, it's pretty funny.

ten foot fall for a bass?!!!

I always figured that science class project to build a capsule for an egg so you could throw it off a building and not break it was to illustrate some basic physics.. not serve as training for using the postal system.

Amount of practice - procedural knowledge

But that's not really what the OP is saying. Nowhere did he say you can only practice 30 minutes a day. He just suggests limiting repetitions for a specific brain-intensive task to 5 minute blocks. This minimizes the effort you have to invest to convert the knowledge into "muscle memory"...

    Where is rock music headed?

The voices are out there. There's just so many people shouting, you can't hear 'em above the ruckus. Is both the best and worst feature of living in the internet era. There's so many people out there making music (not at all a bad thing) that I think the days of megastars are over.

    Theory makes my brain hurt!!!

This book is fairly well regarded: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] Gives you all the musical terminology without using other music terms to define them. Easy to read plain old english.

Where has music and art gone?

The rise of the internet is taking the choice out of the hands of the record labels. They're losing their status as the gatekeeper to music, and I don't know anyone that takes radio seriously anymore. Every single piece of music I've bought in the last 5 years has been a result of sampling it on...

"Bad" technique actually good for me?

If you watch videos of professional players, you'll notice the vast majority of them play with "bad" technique. The human body simply can't hold itself to the established ideal without being damaged, so yes, you should modify your technique to play in a way that's comfortable. The problems...
