    Reasons you need a P-bass:

The first bass I ever played was a P-Bass. I fell in love with it right then & there before I even knew what I had. I was recommended a J-bass to start on, but the neck felt too small (I played upright bass at the time). Something about that P-Bass neck feels right. Now, I think it's safe...

Do you have a "destiny bass"

My first bass was a Peavey G-Bass that I got for $300 new (old stock). It was 7 years ago & the only bass I would never sell. Just simply amazing.

    Bass advice

Honestly, I would go to a local music store and figure out which basses feel the best (obviously you can change out hardware). I know for me, if I had $450 or so to buy a 4-string, I would find a used MIM P-Bass and change out the pick-up.

    Cheapest bass you just LOVE

Either my $80 Squire 20th anniversary P-Bass that I modded (comes out to about $180 in it) or my $40 Squire P-Bass than had a "Duncan Performer" pick-up in it that I defretted ($50 after supplies to defret). I gig with the $80 Squire quite regularly. The "Fender Original P-Bass" pick-up I...

I don't know if it will help, but what about going thicker?

    P Bass Suggestive Help!

Link Removed The first option, the "Original P-Bass Pick-ups" are really, really good. I have a set in my Squier bass with chromes on it. Sounds great, definitely nails that Pino tone. Other than the tuners being swapped, my bass is stock (alder body/maple neck/rosewood fretboard). I get...

BLISTER PROBLEM - IS IT ME, OR THE STRINGS? ASSIST PLEASE?

I've played some round wounds that are "rougher" than others, if that makes sense. What brand are you using? My younger brother was having blister issues, so I put some coated DR's on his bass and that seemed to help him. Also, I may be weird for doing this, but to help with the blister, pop...

SOLD Ultra Modded Z5, MTD FS/FT

oh my, that bass is sweet. I might bite if it's still around Wednesday (payday). I think I was told once that barts aren't too bright sounding. How would you describe the sound of the bass?

    Marcus Miller or Geddy Lee

The only thing I can suggest is trying everything. I bought a Geddy used, and I played it for a few months and ended up selling it It just wasn't my thing, and I liked my Warwick Corvette more. But hey, your mileage will vary. A lot of people love their Geddy's (and MM's) and they sound great on...

    34 or 35 scale 5 string?

I like 35 inch scale basses, but I also learned on one. My 5 string is a 35inch scale, but I didn't buy it with that knowledge at all. I bought it because I liked the way it felt and sounded. I mean, everyones mileage and taste varies, but no one is going to tell you after a show "hey man, you...

    Traynor YBA-200?

I've got the opportunity to jump on one of these bad boys for $400 local on craigslist. What do you guys think? Will it give me enough headroom on the clean side of things? What's the overdrive like? Oh, and what kind of cabinets do you recommend with it?
