Closet find at an elementary school!!

As a teacher in North Texas, myself, I will say OP is doing the correct thing going through the proper channels. I know of many teachers that have been given the boot for taking something that the school had. However, if there were never a record of it...

Looking for Opinions (Rumble vs. GK vs. Mark Bass)

Hey gang, This is my first thread here and I was wanting to get some opinions on Bass Amps from people that have actually used them. Firstly, I'm 'alright' with my current rig but I'm getting tired of taking the heavy cab/head to and from places, I think the speakers may be starting to fail...

If you could jam with any one drummer for an hour…

Danny Carey. I'd love to come up with some cool riff in 11 and he'd play one hand in 7 and the other in 13 while his feet are doing 3.

What’s your favourite bass for overdriven tones?

I agree with many here. P's or PJ's with rounds. Helps get that grit.

    Your Dream P Bass?

The Tony Franklin, but as a 5 string. Probably 35" scale, maybe multi-scale.

    Regrettable Basses

I was looking for a PJ in a jazz body that would be my "basses to end all basses" after I foolishly sold my Lakland 5560 and bought a Roscoe. It was SO heavy AND it still had a neck dive. I couldn't return it as I bought it from a guy on Reverb so I flipped it for a Fender Elite Jazz 5. Which...

    Any issues with neck dive?

Why would you choose a Fender over a Sire?

I've had 2 sires, one fretted and one fretless - both P5s. They were heavy as all get-out in the worst way. The body was heavy and it still had a neck dive. The neck on one of them was cut to be too thick for my liking on a 5 string. The electronics and craftsmanship were on par with what I've...

What is the name of this technique

This was my understanding of harmonics.

    First 5 string

I like what everyone has said about relearning the neck and working on scales. No one has mentioned the extra muting you have to do to make sure the low B only rings when you want it to! It will make you sound MUCH better and cleaner if you remind yourself to keep the other strings muted when...

Adding an additional clear coat to a bass to encapsulate smell/odor

When I do gigs in smokey bars, I put a few dryer sheets in the case to aborb some of the smell and that helps a ton. I also agree with others about a good cleaning outdoors.

If you were famous...what brand would produce your signature bass and what would it be like?

I can't believe no one's mentioned the Tony Franklin bass. The only thing I would change about it is make the neck figured maple instead of plain, and make it a 5 string. Keep electronics the same as I actually like the toggle switch and current pick ups. Also, USA Lakland 55-60 in Mary Kaye...

    Teaching Band Member Harmony Vocals

100% Agree with you on this. Like moving from a I to a IV, 'Do' would be a similar chord tone so you could keep singing the same pitch and still have it work functionally. I think some occasional non-chord tones would be alright if they were resolved in a reasonable way and follow the melody...

    Teaching Band Member Harmony Vocals

For me, I think of the harmony as the second melody. You're moving within the scale in the same shape as the melody, but starting on a different chord tone. If you have them practice scales, arpeggios, and tonicizing that might help! I had to practice a lot of choral pieces and some Eagles...
