Guitar Scale Acoustic Basses

Here's another track I recorded with my PNB14E. Put a little more work into this one. I did a direct record on a borrowed USB audio interface box for the drums (stereo). I really need to buy one of these things. Then two acoustic guitar recordings basically playing the same backing music (offset slightly left and right), and then the bass track. All guitars recorded with phone mic. I'm pretty happy with it - only did one take on the bass track. I play the same baseline for the first run-through but then mix it up after that.

It's basically an E pentatonic jam with the Alesis SR-16 drum machine "Country3" drum track.

What kind of amp did you use for the jam? Were the other instruments unplugged? Sounds like fun - I need to find a group like that in my area.

@Bthebassplayer also got one; I suggested he look into knots, so that the end itself be made into a ball(-shaped) end, as my bass maintenance guy (who happens to have a nautical background) did when installing Savarez contrabass guitar strings on my ABG (I'd take a pic but the bridge is an underloader, so it'd be a bit of a PitA).

Thank you, but I decided too buy an interface for my IPad for recording instead of that bass. Really kind of you though too alert me about this subject!!

Would it be redundant to GAS for one of those Ibanez parlor basses to have as a travel bass since I feel like the Taylor Mini is too pricy and should stay at home? :D

I know I have said this and it's sort of a bore but I am really enjoying the Mini. It's just a perfect thing to mess around with at night when I don't want to plug in and bother people. Just makes me very happy to play!

If you want a travel/beater to save the Taylor, it would make the most sense to get the PNB. Nice little bass, and all-laminate, so you don't have to worry about temperature and humidity extremes.

IMO, the AVN is too close to the Taylor in price, equally delicate (it has a solid top), and very competitive with the Taylor tone-wise. You might end up with two "number ones" that you don't want to take on holiday!

No FE in the country, so I had this E converted to fretless.
It had it’s first acoustic duo gig yesterday afternoon. Wow. The perfect sound in that environment! It has an almost drum-like presence that responds perfectly to both legato and staccato playing. I’m smitten!
I’ll be gigging it again tonight and tomorrow. The DB will stay home..!
I’ll be taking the train!

Yes!

The dynamic character was the element that made the fretted version stand out for me, compared to the Taylor and the Ubass.

Er does anyone know what the difference between the Ibanez PNB14E and the Ibanez Ibanez PNB15E is? Aside from the color and twenty, thirty bucks?

I am on a trip and brought my U-Bass and it's better than nothing buttttttt...

And the prices on these Ibanez PNB are so good!

Cort is the house brand of Cor-Tek. These are the guys that churn out about a gazillion import instruments a year for just about everyone in the industry, including Avalon (!!!), ESP, G&L, Hohner, Ibanez, PRS, Schecter, Squire, etc. If it's inexpensive, CNC-manufactured and unusually good value for the money, it's probably made by Cor-Tek under contract.

Cort's own electric basses are very nice. They make pretty mean budget acoustic guitars as well.

The AB590F looks to be at the low end of their range, though. That fingerboard looks a bit nasty, and the tragically-named ISYS system isn't one of Fishman's better product lines...

I talked to the Canadian Distributor, Coast Music, and they didn't know anything. They gave me a dealer's contact in Vancouver ,Basone, and they couldn't find any info but will keep digging. A really nice fellow at Trading Musician (Cort dealer) in Seattle said he would look into it as well.
For such a large outfit you would think that this info would be readily available.
Oh well, they're saving me money, eh?

Nice looking. That must be fairly new. Didn't know it existed. Keep up the good work Ibanez.
