LP single cut style basses?

Recently I've been gasing for one of these but no one seems to make these any more and they are pretty rare to see on the used market compared to most. What are your opinion on these?

So far models I've been able to find are:
Greco LGB, EGB
LTD EC-200/300/400 series, Edwards LB-, Grassroots...
Gibson/Epi
Just at a glance the Epi and Grassroots appear to be inferior. Have yet to see a Gibson for sale anywhere. In general seem to be more popular in Japan.

I managed to pick up a good Edwards for a song from a Japanese seller recently. Very lucky find. IMO quality is inline with LTD 400 series at half the price. I switched out the cream pickup rings for chrome. Personally I love the short scale. Now I need a spare and would love to find a good EC-414 with flamed maple.

My opinion is that body style with a bass neck on it never seems to be good ergonomically - too much neck dive (unless the body is ungodly heavy), too long of a reach. A short scale helps, but if you really want the benefits of a short scale (lower weight and less reach being a couple big ones), a body with a longer horn is something you probably want.

And super light. I have one just like this.

Indeed - just under 5lbs! There is a level of neck dive but it is so light that natural forearm weight with no additional force is all it takes. The rough side of a fabric strap and a wooly jumper* also works, as I discovered last night. It certainly needs no left hand support so there is no impediment from that perspective. The only problem I've had so far is over-shooting a little on long (>12 fret) shifts.

*Being of a certain age I have plenty of these!!
