    Folded Horn Configurations?

I have one, great cab really. Weighs 4 million pounds but sounds great I wish I knew some specs on it, like power handling

    Flatwounds for a short scale

I'm looking for maximum fundamental, boom, and limited highs. Imagine very old dead flats and I want that, but I need to buy them new. It's going on a modified squire bronco short scale. What would you recommend? I was thinking LaBella deep talking flats.....

    Ever heard of a 2x10 & 1x15 in a single cab.?

When said crossover in my post i wasnt meaning an electronic or otherwise crossover, im saying that 15s, 12s, and 10s inhabit much of the same range and can be tuned fairly close to one another in cabs. And most of the dreaded 2x10 and 1x15 cabs are of a different size anyway, sure they usually...

Opinions on the Carvin 10.4 NEO Cabinets...

A friend of mine got one of those 10.4 Carvin cabs. IMHO it was terrible, it really lacked lowend...in fact his old Behringer 4x10 seemed to have a substantial amount more. And it also had some major problems,it made a popping sound and lost resistance.....Carvin told him that it was just fine...

    Ever heard of a 2x10 & 1x15 in a single cab.?

I find it hilarious that people say something like "You cant use 2x10s together with a 1x15. Just because the 1x15 is a 15" speaker doesnt mean that'll produce more lowend than 10s" And then use the very same logic in saying that no 2x10 and 1x15s will work together, you literally are arguing...

    Acoustic 370 out of 8x10 AND 1x15

+1 there are many styles of music that require far more than a 1x12, its not just about volume its about the sound. A great huge cab can be fantastic at all volumes producing more lowend and more speaker headroom

    NAD: Peavey Vulcan

The tremelo either doesnt work on the amp or the footswitch for tremelo isnt working. The reverb is very huge, like bigger thatn the cave setting on a verbzilla huge. The fuzz is remarkably good, it wont make me get rid of my Big Spider, Supercollider or stop me from getting a Dungeon Master but...

    Any Peavey f-800b users here?

Ive got an old Peavey F-800b that ive been using primarily for baritone guitar but a little for bass playing and im having a bit of trouble with the eq section. It seems odd but i think its all boost on the 6 band side, very different than what ive used before. It could be because im using a...

    Trouble Shooting New Amp

It could be a faulty speaker connection, if the headphones are working its definitely the speaker cone is torn, or the speaker faulty or its the wiring

Your weird piece of gear you love thread

Everyone has that odd, weird piece of gear that they love, mine is a Randall RB212W cab. I cant find any info on it, have no idea what power rating it has, its an odd 2x12 folded horn design and it weighs as much as my car but sweet baby jesus does it have lowend and volume to spare! Whats yours?

    Vintage Solid-State Club?

Im starting to really dig the old SS stuff, plus its a heck of a lot cheaper to get into rather than the vintage tune stuff Ive got: Peavey f800b that i just had repaired/restored. Not sure if ill keep it but its a monster amp Peavey Standard 260 series thats just awesome Earth Original 2000...

Differences between old PV century 120 and 200 series?

Anyone know the differnces between the old Peavey Century heads? Theres a 120 series and a 200 series, both are 100w both seem to have the same control scheme etc Im considering adding a cheap one to the wall of doom mostly used with baritone guitars

    Carvin BRX 15.3 ???

In my experience carvin rates their cabs a bit optimistically. The neo 10.4 I played thru wasn't much if at.all louder than a behringer 4x10 and I hate to say this.but the behr seemed bassier and fuller

    Lol, true:eek:

Eminence Alpha 15a vs Beta 15a

Im waffling between a closed back cab and a ported tuned lower. The thing that worries me is im using a lot of fuzz with a lot, for a baritone, lowend going on. Coupled with a bass head that is eq-ed for bass....im worried that if i tune it around 90hz itll fart out and......explode:bawl: I...

Eminence Alpha 15a vs Beta 15a

Its just downtuned guitar or BEADF#B, so its above standard tuned bass. Actually tuned to 60hz the Alphas can only hold 100w a piece so 4 wired series/parallel would be an 8 ohm 400w cab. Or i could run it as a 2 ohm cab and hope that the f-800 doesnt produce over 400w continuously. Tone...

Eminence Alpha 15a vs Beta 15a

True, they will be designed off of Eminence's cab recommendations, im not just building a box and chucking in some speakers
  28. T

Eminence Alpha 15a vs Beta 15a

Forgot to mention, this would be used for doom sorts of tones
  29. T

Eminence Alpha 15a vs Beta 15a

Im gonna be using these primarily for B tuned and Baritone Guitar. I took a look at Emi's speaker plans and both have options for around 60-ish hz f3 ( which if i remember correctly is what im looking at for B Tuned guitar). Its gonna be a part of a massive amp wall so it doesnt necessarily have...

How to make a bass stand out in a three-piece?

Im a guitarist in a trio. You guys will need to get together and sculpt your sound but i kinda think you are going about this the wrong way. The bass tone in my band is very deep, Eb-0 with flats and sometimes an octave down, that leaves me quite a lot of midrange and sonic space. Usually i...

Old Randall bass cabs and amps

Honestly ive never used a folded horn with my particular system or even our PA, mostly because they weigh a million pounds and take half the band van, lol, but if it isnt ever moved............

Old Randall bass cabs and amps

Yeah the old folded horns are heavy and huge but this is gonna be sat in the band room and never moved. I still cant find out anything about the old Randall stuff.....id love to have one of those huge old 2x15 though

Old Randall bass cabs and amps

Anyone know anything about the old, orange stripe and all, Randall bass cabs? I have a line on a RB-121W that the owner swears is a 2x12 and doesnt have a wattage rating on it. The only thing he knows is that its a folded horn design and its 4 ohms. Hopefully someone here knows something
