'72 Fender pbass truss rod issue

On both of my truss rods, the end for the anchor had a very short length of threads cut, so it stops threading in at about the thickness of the anchor.

'72 Fender pbass truss rod issue

Very interesting additional facts. Hoping you can come up with a way to resecure it in the anchor without having to remove the piece of fingerboard! I wonder if it would be possible to cut a slot in the end of the truss rod so you could use a flat blade screwdriver to thread the rod into the...

'72 Fender pbass truss rod issue

Yes, the truss rod pulled out of the neck pretty easily in both cases. Another good Luther in the Columbus area has had to do this repai as well to several early 70s P necks, leading me to wonder if Fender stopped doing anything to secure the truss rod into the anchor during these years. The...

'72 Fender pbass truss rod issue

You can see a great pic of what the anchor nut looks like here: Dave Bush Guitar Works Yes, a good luthier will be able to get the section of fb off with no damage and reuse it. It should not be necessary to remove the very end of the fb on the headstock side of the nut. That is missing in the...

Vintage EVM 15L Spreakers worth anything?

My favorite drivers for years. Still have six with two in an ACC 406. Changed to Eminence 3015 in two TL606 cabs to lighten the load some years ago. Of course now a stage rig is needed infrequently.

'72 Fender pbass truss rod issue

I have had truss rods back out of two different ‘71 Fender rosewood fingerboard necks. You will NOT be able to thread the truss rod back into the anchor without removing the piece of fingerboard between the nut and first fret. Best done by an experienced luthier!

I believe one of the 2 position micro toggle switches is series/parallel for the pickup, and the other one should be for the preamp. I can’t remember what the positions do with the preamp.

Picked this bass up today in the SF North Bay Area. Very interesting bass with high quality parts from 70’s. Had a fretless neck mounted that looks to be custom made by a skilled luthier. Birdseye maple neck with truss rod adjustment at headstock. Any older bassists out there recognize...
