The Official Skjold Club (Part 11)

I have an older one (model 92 if I recall). It needs to go to someone that will play it more than i've been lately. Is in near new condition. Was built for Bob Babbitt. Pete may be able to provide details.

Live at Montreaux. This album blared out of half the dorm rooms when I was in school. Beatniks begat Hippies begat Yuppies begat Hipsters. We’re all connected.

Some bass players play along and some move along. Will Lee likes to drive the car.

Kind of a jazz - rock & roll - hillbilly fusion album. Clements was once asked how he came up with one of his solos for a Nitty Gritty Dirt Band tune. He told ‘em he just threw in a little bit of School Days and a little bit of Dragnet. The other musicians on the album are also outstanding.

These guys were metal before you called it metal. Proof that attitude, Marshall amps, and LSD could lead to something.

Not music, but still an album.

Promotional copy for radio stations. Between The Wheels on B side. Wide grooves = good sound. It’s a single, but I listened 6 times so should get credit for time served.

Hendrix late in his career. A jam album that showed he was heading in the direction of fusion. He was classified as Pop back then. I liked it better when Pop meant popular, not what the corps decided you should like.

Stubenhaus reminds me of why I love bass. His style can be described as mature. Check out his bio - who hasn’t he played with. We don’t talk about him enough.

JJ Cale - Really. Forget the moldy cover. The album is still as laid back/cool as it gets. Also, one of my dog’s favorites.

Agreed Greg C. Here’s my original from 7th grade and the 20 year later replacement. (One disc volunteered for frisbee duty.) Revisited the entire thing - minus the smoking’ rope.

This can take you back to that dive bar/club on the side of the highway. It had a peculiar odor combo - alcohol, smoke, greasy snacks, and who knows what else. They kept the lights dim. You didn’t want to see it fully revealed. Cheap 32 oz. Monster Beers. Pool tables. Keeping an eye on those...

1982. Marcus on all the tracks except the one that Will Lee played. Not a lot of “look at me” flashy playing. These guys are team players. See how well my puppy is trained. He stopped before he got to the vinyl.

Had to pull these out. Some of us are thinking of him now. Saw him at the LA Troubadour around 1973. Him, a guitar, and a glass of beer. Bonnie Raitt was the warm-up. If you are unfamiliar with him, give it a try. He's such a great wordsmith that his lyrics paint images in your head that...

Scrappy Home Practice Rigs of the Apocalypse

In a time of desperation, and no rig, I put quarter inch plugs on each end of a piece of telephone wire. One end in a P-bass. One end in the mic input of a 20W JC Penny combo stereo. The 12" woofers in the speakers gave a nice sizzle because the cones were torn. The nearby TV created a lot...

Just checking in and trying to catch up. Found this in my old stuff. Can't believe it followed me from Alaska, all over the West, and ended up in East Tennessee. It's lasted longer than my two marriages, combined. What's the "Grumpy Old Far Out Fart Freak Test"?....Did you have one of these...
