    Are bass amps obsolete?

If you can’t feel the bass coming across the stage what’s the point. Might as well sit at home and play through an amp. This in my opinion is the joy of playing live. Unless you are only doing the performance for show, which is what unfortunately satisfies many bass players as verified by some...

    Are bass amps obsolete?

Times are changing. When REAL Electric bass innovators were around they would veil themselves in pumping heart altering stage bass. Now incapable sound engineers control the stage. Good Luck!

Why do the session legends all use P basses? (SBL Video Discussion)

Do you want to be a clone or an original artist. Producers ruin recordings all the time. They think they are in the band as master editor. That being said I love p basses on some of my recordings but prefer a jazz live.

Guitar insists on playing down a half step - What's the Deal?

The deal is that it is less tension on the strings. Believe it or not that happens. makes a difference in the way the instrument feels. By the way most people don’t have perfect pitch there usually a half step short. A Wasn’t always at 440 Hz. It used to be a little flatter. Unless you’re...

    Bass of doom

So Jaco cared enough about one thing. Taking bass to a place you can only dream about. For that he will always be a legend. And you... a 3rd rate critic!

What songs are fun to play on fretless bass?

Anything Jaco did is usually fun on fretless I also love playing the main riffs of “Ramble On” by Led Zeppelin on fretless. Well I just love fretless anyway so my opinion might be jaded.

Fretless what can you tell me about them to persude me to get one.

When playing an Upright you play in “positions” so fret markers aren’t as important. Yeah I also think you should listen to that slacker, Jaco. Unless you are a genius and want to hit “all” your notes, get the lined version. Most guys who go unlined miss notes all night long.

Am I going to hate single-coil hum on a Fender Jazz bass?

When you find out the “precision” capabilities of the jazz bass you will easily let any hum slide. By the way, when you are playing with band mates you can’t hear it!

PICK ONE NEW HEAD MESA OR MARK BASS ?

Every body is so concerned about service! If you are buying an amp because you are planning for it to break, maybe you should pick an amp that has a reliable reputation, after that it is all headroom and tone baby!

    New Mutron3

I bought a “new” Mutron III and find that it makes a loud click when you engage the effect unlike the”HAZ” model I own. Anyone have a thought about this?

    Mu-Tron III vs. HAZ Mu-Tron III+

The HAZ Mutron III doesn’t make any “click” sound when you engage the effect unlike the “new” MutroN III which has a terrible click when effect is engaged like any other crap pedal, the new one is not pro grade, buy the HAZ version.

    Pre-CBS re-fret or not?

Dear “ brain” the topic is a good one. Do you think it got fully flushed? Alive as of 10:05 today.

    Pre-CBS re-fret or not?

I agree playability will be better. Not so much on resale, but players that buy a players vintage are after sound. I respectfully can’t emphasize enough the change in tone is going to happen .

    Pre-CBS re-fret or not?

A re-fret will change the sound of the bass. A friend of mine changed the frets on his 62 Jazz and it killed the sound. You might like it but it will never be the same.
