No longer available Peavey GV (G Bass 5 String)

I just looked up what I paid for this bass, and this is it. I'll be happy to get out what I put in. I'm going to let this sit up here until it sells.

No longer available Peavey GV (G Bass 5 String)

I'm getting less action on this than I thought I would, so I guess I misjudged the market, so I'm dropping the price. I'm not playing this, so I'd like to see it go to a good home, but on the other hand, this isn't going to fund a another purchase, so I'm not rush to sell.

No trades right now. At this point I need to get some gear out of the house.

No longer available Peavey GV (G Bass 5 String)

Up for your consideration is a Peavey G V bass. I've probably been holding onto this one way longer than I should have - I never really play 5 stringers, and this one just sits and doesn't get used, but I like it so much, that I haven't been able to sell it. But, it's time to trim some fat, and...

    I did it!!!!

Nice work man. I'm really proud of you. Thank you for sharing. Anxiety is real, and can be crippling. It's inspiring to see people like you talk about this in the open.

How Do You Cope with Self-Doubt?

I'm an amateur musician. I was a professional chef for years. Both ventures had elements of self doubt. Especially being a chef, where I had numerous review I cold constantly read. I dealt with it like this - I accepted I'm not perfect. This is a lot harder to do. You spend so much of your life...

Inflation and are you near your limit?

I work for a company that sells meat and seafood to restaurants. So we fly and truck in extremely perishable products multiple times a week. On top of that, our customer base, which has taken an enormous hammering over the past couple years for a variety of reasons, is looking at their bottom...

What year did you start playing bass?

2020, I was 41. I picked it up because I had been learning banjo for the previous, I don't know how many years, and I had memorized how to play certain tunes, but I didn't really understand what I was doing. For some reason I felt like bass was a "foundational" instrument, and learning that...

SOLD Fender Deluxe Active Precision w/ EMGs

A few things to note about this bass... The pickups have been replaced with EMG PJAX. Since they're EMGs, it means they also have EMG pots, jack and knobs. The controls are VVT. The pickguard has been replaced so there isn't an empty hole where the passive / active switch was. When I got...

Pickup for an odd sized route

I figure it’s that or a jazz pickup. It’s the right width for a mini humbucker but the route is so long. I may just go with a jazz pickup with blades to avoid string spacing issues.

    NBD Peavey Fury...

Nice score. My oldest bass I still own is a Fury. Every time I think it’s time to “thin the heard”, I’ll pick that bass up, even if I haven’t played it in a while, play it, and put it right back in the “don’t sell” pile.

Pickup for an odd sized route

I recently picked up an EB-0 at a decent price, probably because it was stripped of all electronics and hardware and had been routed for a bridge pickup and aftermarket bridge. I like the idea of a bridge pickup, but I would prefer to use the existing route than have to cut away additional...

To return or not to return…

I would keep it. There are plenty of “mint” basses that sound meh. Maybe I sound too hippie like but wood is organic. It doesn’t all sound the same and come together the same way. If you get one that sounds great it’s a keeper as far as I’m concerned.

I Hate To Be Picky ...

I personally think there is a big difference between pick and fingers sound wise, especially when I play. As far as big name bass players are concerned- I like some guys tone who play with a pick and I like others who play with their fingers. I like my tone more with a pick. I guess what I’m...

Quitting / Firing via Text Message Acceptable Now?

I think it depends on the situation. If you hire a guy for a show a two, all communication is done through text, and then let them know it’s not working out via text that’s fine. If you’ve been together a year and played a dozen shows and it’s mostly a side project, well maybe a phone call is...

    Agedhorse appreciation thread.

@agedhorse went above and beyond with the speaker cab advice he gave me. It wasn’t just “get this one sounds good” like you so often hear, it was a scientific reason as to why that cab and driver would work. Thank you sir, for your invaluable insight. Speaker and cab sound great!

Is Deep Purple in the same league with Led Zeppelin?

IMO, not even close. As “big” as Led Zeppelin is, they’re probably underrated if that’s possible. Bonham is arguably one of the best drummers of all time. Page has to be at least a top 50 guitar player. Plant’s nickname is “the Golden God” and the more I play Zeppelin tunes, the more I realize...

Best gig setup practices and advice please

As a professional chef by trade I love the use of the term “mise en place”. I also like how everyone’s comments boil down to “musical mise en place”.

    SOLD Source Audio C4

There is some velcro residue on the back I can't get off. Sorry. I will also include the cord I had to buy separately to hook it up to a computer to really get into the Nuero editor deep with this pedal. This is a great synth pedal - probably the best ever made. I watched the videos and...

Should I have been made aware prior to purchasing? Brand New...about 2K

I think the amount of imperfections you could expect should be proportionate with the price. At $2k you’re not too far off from entering custom territory. I don’t think that’s acceptable. If that was a Squier, I’d be more forgiving.

    Cancelled Fender Custom Shop order

I hate to be in the position of defending a big company against the little guy, but as someone who works in distribution, I can not state how unbelievably messed up the global supply chain is right now. Manufacturers can’t get products into shipping containers because they’re in the wrong part...

Gearheads: this is about one minute of perspective.

I’m not enough to bass not to be able to speak to this, but I’ve been a chef for 20 years, and there is a parallel with knives. I can do what I need to do with a cheap knife or a nice knife, as long as it’s sharp, however my favorite knife is one that’s in the middle, solely because it feels...

    SOLD EMG BQC Control

Ah, I forgot to mention that. If you live in the Con US, I’ll pick up shipping. FYI, there are two more knobs that come with it as well that I forgot to put in the picture. If you look at the list of “what’s in the box” on EMG’s site, everything on that list is in there.

    SOLD EBS OctaBass

EBS OctaBass Octave Divider - "Black Label". Works great. There is some black stuff on the back (see picture). I'm guessing it's from where the previous owner had velcro. I have the box and documentation. I'll ship it anywhere in the Con USA for $20 or actual, whatever is less. (Usually $20...

    SOLD EMG BQC Control

I bought this and it doesn't fit in the cavity of my bass. I tossed the box already though. What you see is what you get. Here is the description from EMG: The BQC Control is an active EQ circuit for bass guitars. They allow you separate control over bass, midrange, and treble all via 2...

Phil Lesh Appreciation Society: Enter the Philzone... v2.0

For sure. I was curious when it was played out - because I was under the impression it never was - and the article I read said it was only played out that one time. Article easily could be wrong, so I’m not going to die on that hill - plus I hate arguing about trivial crap on the internet. I...

Phil Lesh Appreciation Society: Enter the Philzone... v2.0

I stand corrected, a little googling reveals Tiger was lent out, but not a bunch. As of 2020, the only person to use was Warren Haynes in 2016. Joe Exotic was supposed to use it in a live stream, but I can’t tel if it happened. There are a lot of Tiger replicas out there, you may have seen one...

Phil Lesh Appreciation Society: Enter the Philzone... v2.0

I disagree for a couple reasons. One is I followed this story as it was happening in a Facebook group, and the dude who bought this is the guy who facilitated the return of Rick Turner’s pretzel to Cutler, so I would imagine he’s sensitive about things like that. Secondly, Phil put up some of...

I bought an empty cab from this guy. I’m not joking when I say it’s probably the most sturdy thing in my house. Very well built. Plus he’s a super nice guy and very helpful.

Peavey 115 BW and a JBL

I usually run my power amp bridged, but if I run just one side at 8 ohms, it maxes out at 215 watts. So I figure I’ll fun it like that... and not crank it.

Right now there is no padding or dampening material in there. Should I dampen it? Would the volume of the dampening material reduce the volume?

Peavey 115 BW and a JBL

Those are external measurements. It makes sense that calculations are done on internal measurements though. My thought process when I picked up this cab was that I know the Black Widow is supposed to be modeled after a JBL, so I was hoping it would be sized properly.

Peavey 115 BW and a JBL

@jwilson Brad Sarno is small, independent builder in St. Louis. He builds products, from what I can tell, that mostly hit two main categories - pedal steel players and guitar players who are chasing the Jerry Garcia sound. So everything he builds is designed to be clean and have a lot of head...

Peavey 115 BW and a JBL

Excellent. I need some hardware to hook it up and I’m going to take it for a spin. I was pretty surprised at how heavy the cab was - considering it appears to be made out of wood - unloaded.

Peavey 115 BW and a JBL

Thank you for this info. There is no chance I would have figured this out on my own - just calculating the cubic feet of the box had me recreating scenes from “A Beautiful Mind@ in my basement. The driver has been reconed with a factory spec’d kit.

Peavey 115 BW and a JBL

Hello. I got a really good deal on an unloaded Peavey 115 BW cab. I'd like to drop a JBL K140 into it. I don't know the first thing about power handling and tuning bass cabs and what not and I've tried reading the threads, and here is what I know, vs what I've figured out: The cabs dimensions...
