    I do NOT *believe* this!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought this on a whim, and I love it! It's got this light, beautiful, trashy, simple sound of something built in the lo-tech '70's but no hum at all.http://www.amazon.com/EMERALD-STRING-ELECTRIC-BASS-GUITAR/dp/B002JI8MEM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=musical-instruments&qid=1280694942&sr=8-2 I wonder...

Anyone else have this hearing problem?

This is related strictly to the bass - and it's always frustrated me (I noticed it in my 20's!!!). I tend to hear lower notes up to a half-step above their true pitch. I notice it more these days because we have the low-B available. I know it's in my ears because I can move across the...

    brand of bass poll?

Is there a brand of bass poll somewhere? Like the poll for the fretless/fretted, number of strings, etc. poll?

    Exposed core strings

I've noticed that it's hard to get anything but exposed-core strings for my GT7 and I'm not sure that's a good thing. So I'm thinking of installing Hipshot individual through-body bridges so that I can bury the exposed core. :ninja: Is there wisdom/preference on bridge-end exposed core...

Is there a thread for "show your practice space?" I searched and didn't find one...

    dumb string question...

I just got a set of strings direct from Conklin for my GT-7, and the winding doesn't reach all the way to the bridge. So it's just the core wire for about 1 - 1.5 inches above the bridge. Did I get the wrong kind of strings or is this a normal way to string an ER bass...?

    Do active pickups drain batteries?

I noticed that the 9V lead goes directly to the Bartolinis, and that the ground side is directly grounded (via the audio inputs). So the amp jack doesn't interrupt the battery current as it does for the Audere preamp - the active pickups are always on! Is this standard for active pups...

    Help - active pickups

Has anyone tried using an Audere Classic with the Bartolini's on a GT-7? I only just found out (after wiring the thing up!) that the pups on my GT-7 are active. (I really feel stupid.) :crying: It turns out the Audere will work with active pickups - I think active pickup wiring is...

    stacatto probs...

Having some trouble with staccato technique.:( If I partially lift my left-hand finger to deaden the (previously sounding) string, then the string rattles (briefly) against the fret before going dead (this is worse on lower-sounding strings). If I instead use a second finger on my right hand, I...

Groove Tool vs Raven West 7-strings?

Are there any comparisons? I didn't like the Antoniotsai 7-strings because they're so durned *wide* (also, didn't want to risk getting a lemon)

How do you tune your ER bass?

Just wondering how many folks with extended-range basses don't use 4ths-between-every-string... MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!! ;) Patti:rolleyes:

    Hi All ...and a question...

I never really introduced myself - I'm PattiMichelle, and am a working rocket scientist in the LA area, and in the 70's I played flatpick bluegrass guitar in a small "family" band. Anyway, lately, for some reason, I got interested in the bass again - and got a Brice Z6. I have good...

    Antoniotsai 7-string?

I was lusting over one of the 7-string basses at Antoniotsai - but it claims it's 2.5" wide at the nut (!!!) - that's some serious width... my Brice 6-string is only 2" wide at the nut and the string spacing is plenty wide. Does anyone have one of the 7-strings? I can't believe they make them...

    switching a 1/4in jack?

I have a Hartke HyDrive 115c and when I want to use the direct in/out only, I have to manually unplug the main speaker (1/4 inch plug - like a TRS) inside the rear of the cabinet. I was thinking it might be cleaner to make a small box to go in series with the jack, with an on/off switch on its...

    No headphone jack...

Oops! I just got the amp of my dreams, a used Hartke HyDrive 115c (OK, so I have small dreams...) but after I got it, I realized that although it does have stereo aux inputs, it doesn't have a headphone jack. :hmm: My neighbors will hate me. I think if I get a 250W, 4ohm resistor and put it...
