My favorite amp is B-15 but I don't have that money so I bought PF-20T and it came with new Tung-Sol tubes so it's much closer to that B-15 sound.
Bass used are Fender Jazz bass Highway 1 (TI flats), Peavey Patriot (Rotosound Swing) and Sire Z3 (Rotosound Swing).
Sound is DI from Transformer...
At the beginning of 2020, I bought my first tube amp, an Ampeg PF-20T. What interested me about it was the transformer DI out, since I only needed a head for recording at home. My favorite amp of all time has always been the Ampeg B15.
I played the PF-20T for at least four years and...
I have to write this story because it’s simply unbelievable. This Peavey Patriot came into my life back in 2011. I bought it from an old bassist in Zagreb—he was the original owner. I have all the original receipts and even the warranty card dating back to 1987.
I bought it in absolutely...
For the last year and a half I’ve owned only a 2003 Fender Jazz Bass Highway 1, on which I installed TI flats myself and used it mainly for vintage tones. I’ve always wanted to have that gritty, active StingRay tone for more modern production and music, but I never wanted to spend that much...
I put them on my newly acquired jazz bass 9 months ago, I'm enjoying it more than any other flat (and I tried many). Here are some clips, solo bass in few genres.
Very happy about this NBD, played different basses through my 20 years of playing, haven't bought new bass in 3 years with P bass + flats as my main player last 4 years...but...I SLOWLY realized that I enjoy Jazz much more, and it was somehow very hard to admit that, in my mind P bass was holy...
Somehow forgotten bass, was not very popular back then, red bat is horrendous. I like bass, it's light, hot pickup with nice crunchy mids. I looooove maple fretless boards so I moded this one to fretless, beautiful sound.
1. Bass: Fender Jazz American Standard
Strings: GHS Pressurewounds (44-102)
2. Bass: 50s Classic Fender Precision (Mexico)
Strings: GHS Precision flats (45-105)
What do you think people?
I looooove P bas, I never played unlined maple neck fretless P but my God it's beautiful sounding thing and even more beautiful to look at. Unfortunately bass is only 7 days in my hands and I need to return it to my friend, he's selling it because he want fretted version.
Here are few clips...
Hi people,
I haven’t been active here for a long time, I didn’t play either actually.
After some thinking I sold all my basses (Classic Pro T-Bird, Peavey Patriot and P bass copy), I loved them all and enjoy playing them so much but love for proper Fender P bass with flats was much stronger...
This bass is gem...I realized that I like cheap gem basses, this bass is MIJ Matsumoku bass, what else to say, built like a tank. Very agressive sound with lots of bite but little thin compared to Precision, it's some kind of p bass pickup in ''sweet spot'' I think it's 2-3cm closer to bridge...
Here is my new beauty, few days old. This is such a beast of a bass, it has growl for days and it's built like a rock, heavy machinery for sure. Can't wait to play it in a band this week.
Hi guys, I had at home 8 strings packs and I decided to make this video, there was no better time. I think I lost almost whole day doing this.
Sorry for sloppy playing and editing but it was really exhausting and I was losing concetration. but hope you will like it, find it amusing or even...
Feel:
The are rough like all stainless steel strings, yes they are compression wound but it's not big difference from all other SS strings, they are in the middle of the road in flexibility, close to Rotosound in tension, it's hex core after all.
Sound:
They are very, very balanced strings...
This is somehow extension of Dr. Cheese thread, but more focused.
I want to know did you find YOUR perfect tone and please decribe why you like it and in what kind of music you use it.
In last year I was in pursuit of warm, thick, great low end but focused but not hard midrange tone with...
I am really big Rotosound fan from my first bass day, like I said in my thread before where I praised Rotosound flats and really enjoying that mellow sound, but only for some things, for everything else there are these beauties. Definitely my favorite rounds. That mids are something really...
I need help. I always liked that Rick warm, rounded, growly neck pickup sound. Now with Patriot I have Super Ferrite single coil in close position as Rick bridge pickup and it sounds great but there is little low end there so I want to put SRB-1n pickup in the neck position to round that tone...

So... after long long time I'm finaly bought flats. I was 16 last I played flats, I'm lying, I played Chromes 4 years ago very shortly on my ATK, but the first one I played were Rotosound Steve Harris signature set. At the time I didn't know that I was playing flatwounds my dad bought set for my...
I really love this overall sound, is there any padal/effect to make similar sound, I already have passive bass, Peavey Patriot, so I just want more direct, middle heavy but strong low end, grity and hairy sound. Is there anything like that?
Which combination would you choose? :bassist:
1) Black body/black pickguard/maple

When I started my thread I was very happy and glad to see that there is some interest for Peavey Patriot basses, because it is very hard to find something on web, and I want to help everyone who want some information to have everything on one place. So here is some kind of ''official'' thread...
Any opinions and experiences with this bass?
I have a chance to buy one, now I have Ibanez ATK 300 NT, can you draw some parallalel between them? ;)
