I was wondering if I could lather some cooking oil on my strings to make it easier to slide? They are Roto flats, Monel.. Would this damage the string in any way?

I'm switching back to heavy strings and I looked and I was wondering if there was a cheap 55-75-95-115 set? If so can I have a link... I usually tune down a half a step and use fuzz frequently but for my clean sound I want a really deep bassy sound. :bassist:
