    Shuttle 6.0 Spare Tube Reliability

A few months ago the tube went out on my 6.0 in the middle of a gig. I always carry a basic set of tools in my pedalboard case, as well as a couple of spare 12AX7s and a 12AT7 too, should the guitar player du jour need some help. A Phillips head screwdriver is all that's needed here. I was...

Jazz bass w/ Duncan STK-J2 humbuckers still buzzes!

I didn't see any mention of this in your post so I gotta ask: did you check the bridge ground wire? Make sure it's soldered to the back of a pot in the control cavity. And remove the bridge and make sure that the wire is making good contact there as well. I hope you get this sorted out so you...

    Bass Shopping in Austin

Bass Emporium is an excellent shop all around. There's Austin Bass Traders too- high-end stuff to be had there. These are (to my knowledge) the only 2 bass-specific shops in Austin. But! Since you're there you may as well check out South Austin Music, Ray Hennigs Heart of Texas Music, Austin...

    WHAT ARE YOU!

That looks exactly like a MIM Fender Precision Standard pickup. Flip it over- are there 2 small "bars" glued to the bottom of the bobbin? If so, those are ceramic magnets...and steel slugs. If I recall correctly, the resistance measured around 4.75k for the pair- very, very low for a P bass set!

    Recomended Flatwound Strings?

Flats are great, no doubt...but don't forget about tapewounds!

another Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 convert

Hi Everyone. I just wanted to check back in and provide an update. Thank you HasBeen for offering some help with getting sounds, but I don't think I need any assistance. The preamp design is very intuitive which makes getting great tone so easy! What's been working for me: Low +2 clicks, Mid set...

another Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 convert

I recently picked up a Shuttle 6.0 and not to gush or anything, but I really love this amp! I used it for the first time last Saturday with an 8ohm 2-12 cabinet in a medium sized room and even though I wasn't getting the full 600 watts from the Shuttle, I was never at a loss for volume and was...

    MIA neck vs. MIM neck

I own a '08 USA Fender Jazz (maple/maple) as well as a recently acquired '09 MIM Fender Precision (also maple/maple). To my eyes, the quality of the maple in both necks appears to be about the same. As for tone, it's true that the graphite rods DO impart a certain hi-fi modern "ping" to the...

    Losing weight, not tone

I'm in the same predicament as you Jar, only it's the cartilage in both knees that's the issue- worn down to the bone from years of lugging gear and playing soccer. Big OUCH! My doctor said "lighten you load and quit punishing yourself!". It's a real drag when our bodies start to fail. Dang it...

    Yet another endorsement thread

I've had good success with calling companies directly and asking to speak with someone in Artist Relations. Don't email- make the phone call. But before you do that, update your website and include your music resume and music clips. Whomever you speak with at whatever company you call will...

    Yorkville/Traynor Club?!

Count me in! I use a Traynor TC808 (and sometimes a TC810) with a Genz Benz GBE1200 and I totally love it. Here's a pic of the TC810/Genz Benz rig:

    Hello all

Better late, than never! Yamaha makes some solid basses and the Hal Leonard bass books are definitely a good place to start. I'm new here to TB as well but I've been checking this site out for a long, long time- tons of great information and tips here. Welcome to the bass playin' club!

    Hi Everyone

I've been visiting Talkbass for years and finally decided to create an account and join the community. I've been playing music for over 20 years- 6 instruments and sing, but make a living playing bass. Nothing makes me happier! I'm glad to be here on TB and look forward to sharing what I know...
