i prefer GK amps, but my GK melted down, so as a cheap temp replacement im using fender...sounds pretty damn good, just not GK good.

direct is great IMO. But if your going direct into some lower quality recording gear, then mic is the best.

i just bought a fender bassman 100 (older one, 15" speaker) for a measly $95! It's in practically new condition, this guy just diddnt use it, and i'll admit, its not mind blowing compared to my GK 4x10 setup, but as a more logical amp its great! As for tone, i havent messed with it too much...
