Double Bass The Kay Bass Club + Engelhardts, King & other old US made Plywood Basses.

Your American Standard friend #161 has so much character. Just finishing off this one from 1962 I think. Someone had painted it badly so I removed it down to what might be original finish and French polished it.

Double Bass The Kay Bass Club + Engelhardts, King & other old US made Plywood Basses.

Three more Kay M1's rejuvenated, rebuilt, restored, re-fixed. The '58 on left was a complete restoration which now boasts new ebony fingerboard, ebony tailpiece and French polish. Sounds incredible.

    Double Bass Loud D string

You can put a weight on the D string behind the bridge and it will act as a mute. The closer the weight is to the bridge, the more mute action. You can buy them for bass or just grab a weight out of your fishing tackle box.

Double Bass The Kay Bass Club + Engelhardts, King & other old US made Plywood Basses.

That neck and fingerboard is actually off an older bass, guessing a mid-1800s flatback. Its not an extension but what's left of the fingerboard. I joke that it was in a bar fight at one time and suffered a shotgun blast that went through the body and took part of the fingerboard with it. Body...

I side with "useful connection for the prospective buyer" Steven. Wish Englehardt could have kept the Kay brand for dbl basses since its the same design (?).
