The runs of basses Mark just released were made by Fender. Mark's brand hmnim arranged with Fender to order the basses and sell them through hmnim's website. Allan Corona is a luthier who used to make Mark Hoppus replica basses. He would build the bodies himself and use Fender necks. You could...

    Why the Reverse Double P?

Figured I’d update on how my build went, I extrapolated the pickup placements from the comparisons above and kinda eyeballed where the placement should be, but it turned out really great. I had a friend do the artwork, which turned out great

    Dual Precision Pickups Wiring Problems

I’ll try and get some sound clips tonight, but yeah the dual reverse P sounds good, and when the two separate volume controls it’s like a massive sounding jazz bass I play it in a punk band I started with some friends from high school and it works well for that

    Dual Precision Pickups Wiring Problems

    Practicing at odd times....

I play in a surf punk band with some kids i went to high school with, band practices happen anytime we’re all free, but as far as writing goes, some of my best writing has been out in the garage at 1 or 2 AM when I can’t sleep.

    Why the Reverse Double P?

Actually if you look at this image posted earlier in the thread they are both just a little further toward the neck
  21. back2thebassics

    Why the Reverse Double P?

Mark Hoppus employed the reverse P in the neck position of his signature Jazz bass, he claimed the D and G strings sounded weak in the standard P position and so reversed it to balance the tone across the strings. The measurement here was taken from the 12th fret by a TB member in another...

Thank you a ton Jeff! that's gonna make my life a whole lot easier I've seen those blacktops, those were an inspiration for this idea, but everything I've read makes me thing I'm gonna like the double reversed P config best. Who knows I might get a beater test body and route a swimming pool...
