I am just very curious as to the model number ? I have looked at all the Ibanez catalogs and can't find a painted, neck-thru, SRX model. Only the SRX700 and both finishes were either natural or stained.

So I have various pieces but it came apart in pieces not as one broken piece... I could attempt to reconstruct it but I couldn't make it look original. The bass must have hit something hard and sharp because the damage went clear through the box, through the bubble wrap, ripped the bass gig...

If I am really fortunate and careful, I may still be able to pull off a finish like the actual SRX700. I think it will depend on what the wood looks like under all that paint. I hope they are ash wings.

Thanks for the comments. I won't stand down the horn unless I have to. I can rebuild that horn with a small price of ash? and then refinish. If I canatch the wood close enough I could finish it in a light stain which would look nice. We shall see.

So, I have shipped many many basses from Japan and with many different companies... ISHIBASHI is the gold standard. They list accurately, ship safely and don't overcharge for instruments. I would highly recommend them and I have shipped more than 75 instruments from Japan.

Well, I hit the 35 bass mark in 2023! That is a lot of basses..... almost all of them I imported from Japan. Couple of Indonesian Ibanez basses (SR5 and ATK), a couple of Korean Ibanez (BTB 4 string, SRX700).... the rest MIJ basses. I have since sold off a dozen or so. I hope to narrow it...

The CAP bridge on my ATK800e is 90mm wide.

I am going to assume that should you not like and potentially ruin the bridge, finding a replacement would a tall order?

I would be curious to see what these basses look like with blacked out hardware (including the bridge). I love the chrome against the walnut stain on my ATK800, but I can imagine it might look pretty good blacked out.

Ya, that unfortunately is a problem. I had this happen to one of my MIJ Tokai Les Paul. It can be fixed but to do it right is a big job. Is that just a cap or is it a solid body that is splitting?

I would also suggest posting photos. Just about anything can be fixed. I rebuild basses often, and in fact, love to buy "project basses". That said, yours should not be a project as the SR5000 is right at the top of the bass world in my opinion, esp. if you love the SR style/neck/body. Pics...

I used to see VanZandt all the time in Japan. They are very nice and very well made. I always thought they were great value for the money but I haven't owned one. Nobody will know of them in North America which is cool! They remind me of the FGN instruments but VanZandt are rarer.

I went back to post #82 in this thread. Lots of catalog pics (for which I am thankful). My bass appears to be J-180 Teak.

My is not walnut. It's the Teak model...or KOA. The pups are the original Moon j pups. They do look a little small. They sound great though. I need to go back to check out the catalog to see what wood was used. I did the research when I first bought it but that was a while ago.

Does anyone know where I can find a pickup fory AP TSB550? It is an amazing bass in nearly mint condition but the pickup seems to have crapped out on me. I have owned many AP2 basses but haven't had to replace a pickup yet. Always a first for everything! Thanks in advance

I am almost positive my ATK800 is 19mm. I could be wrong and am too lazy to Google it! Definitely wider than my SR5. I love the necks on the newer ATK. So quick.

I think it would depend on the price. I have numerous neck thru basses. No problems thus far. Even if you buy a bolt-on, if the neck is garbage, good luck finding a replacement neck for that model. They are beautiful basses.

I am also interested in knowing which Bart's reduced that sound clip from years ago. Were they MK1s? I think these basses are great bang for the buck as they as pretty cheap to buy. Esp, for anyone who enjoys a bit of experimenting with electronics.

Just curious. Were the 700 series the only neck thru SRX basses? Were they all made of light ash/swamp ash? I quite like the look of them.

If it's original if definitely isn't plywood. It should be Alder, which is not so heavy.

I am not concerned about batteries really. I quite like passive tones on most of my active basses when I can opt for it.

Great info, I wonder whether a simple push/pull pot would work. I am not going to drill a hole in my ATK for another switch. Never going to happen. I like my basses capable of being put back into original state in case I decide to sell the bass in the future. I don't see that happening anytime...
