    Club RickenFaker / FakenBacker - Show Your Fake Rics!

    Neck through and bridge swapped out for a Badass III. It came wired in stereo and with a Rickenbacker truss rod cover. Sweet bass.

    Talk me off the ledge, please....

    BUY A RIC !! BUY A RIC !! BUY A RIC !! It took me 40 years to get mine and its awesome. I loved Chris Squire but Geddy is my dude.

    Quitting my band today....ugh.

    We may be related. I'm 57 and have been looking for a band because the one I was playing in wasn't my cup of tea. I did the whole post on FB, Reddit and those paywall app musician classifieds with no luck. Eventually I posted on Craigslist got some response and hooked up with a band. All of my...

    VT Bass - Still on your board?

    Having no actual need for it but I must get Geddy's YYZ and Moving Pictures pedals. The 2112 can function as a DI.

    VT Bass - Still on your board?

    This is why I love music. There is no one size fits all, everyone must conform. I jumped on the Line 6 and digital stuff in the '00s. This one of the beautiful things about music. There is no right or wrong. In the '00s I hopped right on board the Line 6 / digital boat. In the '20s I abandoned...

    Geddy Lee - Which bass, which album, which song

    He liked the compactness of the Steinberger but said that it didn't have enough bottom. I have a Ric, a Steinberger and a Jazz. I can say as someone with a bad back that standing with a Ric hurts. Love that bass to death but using the Steinberger soon after feels like you're playing "air...

    Dumb Looper Question

    Thanks !!! Timing shouldn't be a problem once I'm used to the looper itself. As it stands now I know when to kick on the Morely that instantly triggers the Roland. Of course the synth is just playing the note that I'm holding on the bass. Not a whole different pattern.

    Dumb Looper Question

    One for bass and one for the synth ?
  9. Tom Henrich

    Dumb Looper Question

    And you sir have given me what I needed to know. I got the part that the looper needed to be at the end of a chain for it to capture the bass with any active effects in it. I thought that the looper would need something between the bass and looper. But I wasn't certain because the Sonuus...

    Dumb Looper Question

    I'm looking to record one synth riff that I can engage / disengage as needed. If I can have it as Bass -> Looper -> Sonuus -> Roland, could activate the loop and leave it continuously running if I wanted. The whole "B" section (Roland) is activated by engaging the Morley.
  11. Tom Henrich

    Dumb Looper Question

    Now that makes sense !! Right now I'm good with having one loop. Then again 2 months ago I was going to sell the Roland because I thought that the Sonuus would have been uselesss. LOL. I don't foresee a need to loop my bass. Unless I was going to loop a bass line so that I could play the Roland...

    Dumb Looper Question

    That's what I thought. Forget any effects loop on the looper. In order for a looper to play a processed signal it has to be behind or after a fuzz, chorus, etc.. That being the case, what if your setup was Bass -> Looper -> Amp ? If the looper is able to see the bass, then I should be able to...

    Dumb Looper Question

    Ok. So now I'm confused. If it's first in the chain, how would it capture the signal and effects from pedals after it ?
  14. Tom Henrich

    Dumb Looper Question

    So what it hears, it records and plays ? I kind of thought that would be the case. I've just started looking into them so I don't have one particular looper that I'm set on. I'll probably get one of those cheap ones out of China to start with. I don't want anything complicated. Just pre-record...

    Dumb Looper Question

    What's up all ? Dumb question about looper pedals that I can't find an answer for. What signal does a looper process, store and output ? For example, say I have the looper first in the pedal chain with a fuzz pedal right behind it. Would the output be the clean bass tone or would the loop go...

    Wow !!! So he worked under Skip Underglider then.

    SWR Workingman 12 Combo - THANK YOU !

    Good to know. Thanks. First I need to find a band. When I was starting out as a kid, finding bands was a piece of cake. Now it's a paywall for musician classifieds. Or a jackass on Facebook wanting to play rockstar. I'm driving the pre with an MXR Dyna Comp and a Sansamp GT2. I noticed the...

    SWR Workingman 12 Combo - THANK YOU !

    The quote thing screwed me up too. LOL. At first I was the idiot who liked the shiny new digital stuff. The last few years of still primarily playing guitar I dropped it like a bad habit. I'm loving the hell out of my SWR. How something that small can be so smartly designed, be that loud and...

    SWR Workingman 12 Combo - THANK YOU !

    I'll go to my grave saying that Rush is the greatest band EVER. I've been saying it for 48 years. LOL.

    SWR Workingman 12 Combo - THANK YOU !

    That makes sense. In the 2000s I got sucked into the whole digital modeling crap. Line 6 this, Line 6 that. Amps with all of the on board effects etc... Admittedly I lost my way and in the mid 90s -> '21 and played mainly guitar and didn't see what was going on in the bass gear world. Man a lot...

    SWR Workingman 12 Combo - THANK YOU !

    Thanks for the tip. I forgot that I have a Marshall 4x10. Actually it's my son's. He hasn't used it in years. I should plug it into the WM just to get an idea. If it sounds decent my son can have the luxury of doing the lugging. LOL.

    SWR Workingman 12 Combo - THANK YOU !

    I love mine. I don't plan on buying another bass amp. An extension cab is probable. Why would SWR fall out of favor ? So many bass players are giving them high praise.

    SWR Workingman 12 Combo - THANK YOU !

    I can see me getting an extension cab. Even if I don't need it. LOL.
  26. Tom Henrich

    SWR Workingman 12 Combo - THANK YOU !

    I'm glad that I got mine. I agree. The amp has a lot of cool features, none of which are pointless. It was definitely well designed. I haven't played with other humans in the room since the early 90s. Life's circumstances changed and now I can put together or hookup with a band. I'd like this to...

    SWR Workingman 12 Combo - THANK YOU !

    Sorry guys. Replying is giving me trouble tonight for some reason. I have no idea why a million "quotes" are posting.

    SWR Workingman 12 Combo - THANK YOU !

    Thanks !!! And thanks for the tip on the 15". From what I read the 15" don't give you all of the highs easily which I think is wrong. I used to have a Kustom head into a 2x18 cab many many moons ago. This was back in the mid to late 80s.

    SWR Workingman 12 Combo - THANK YOU !

    Thanks for everyone's input from my initial post regarding this wonderful, wonderful amp. It definitely helped my decision. I pulled the trigger on buying the WM 12 (Version 2) this morning. $200 and it's practically brand new. I noodled around with it for about 15 minutes after I got her home...

    SWR Workingmans Twelve ?

    Another question... Does anyone know if the DI on the amp is pre or post ? I read that some amps have a switch where you can choose. This one doesn't. I'm a bit confused with the whole DI thing. How does the effects loop work if you are going from your pedalboard into a DI box ? Or if the DI on...

    Bass -> MIDI Converter-> Roland GR20 ?

    Invaluable advice. Thank you. The idea of using the Sonuus -> GR20 is officially out the window.

    Bass -> MIDI Converter-> Roland GR20 ?

    Oh yeah, that b*!?# is going up for sale. LOL. When I first saw the demo for the SY-1 and the dude was nailing "Subdivisions" I knew that was a pedal to acquire. I really wanted the GR20 to work out for me. I didn't expect to be Keith Emerson on it but I figured it could be a nice addition.
  35. Tom Henrich

    Bass -> MIDI Converter-> Roland GR20 ?

    I'd like to have the synth to really widen my playing. I can picture in my head how I want my sound if that makes sense.
  36. Tom Henrich

    Bass -> MIDI Converter-> Roland GR20 ?

    I installed the GK3 properly on one of my guitars when I first bought it. It wasn't nearly as fluid as the SY-1 is. Not to mention that I could not get the damn thing to sound like a Moog or Oberheim. I'm basically looking for one last shot at liking the thing. I'm leaning heavily to selling /...

    Bass -> MIDI Converter-> Roland GR20 ?

    Thanks. I've seen what they sell for on Reverb. More than enough to pick up an SWR Workingmans 12.
  39. Tom Henrich

    Bass -> MIDI Converter-> Roland GR20 ?

    Thanks. It definitely helps. Translate is a much better terminology. I was looking for a reason to keep the GR20. I'm probably going sell it or trade it for a decent bass amp. I wish that I acquired bass gear over the years. I have a million guitar amps which doesn't help me now. The SY-1 is...
