In the market for a chorus pedal. Currently I have a Fulltone Bass Drive, Line 6 DL4, and Crybaby Bass Wah. Price aside, curious how you'd rank the following and why. Not sure if all the bells and whistles of the DMM are really necessary. Thoughts? Thanks.

I love the Deluxe Memory Man.
It's the best delay for me. I love it as a delay.
I would not recommend it if you are just after a chorus.

The Stereo Electric Mistress is awesome, as combination of flanger and chorus.
If you're into that.

Purely only a chorus... I prefer the BOSS CE-5 (the guitar version over the bass version for me.)


The Line 6 Space Chorus is surprisingly good on bass, but my preferation goes to the BOSS CE-5.


For really cheap, many people rave about the Danelectro Cool Cat Chorus (18V though).


All IMO off course.

the deluxe memory man is pure awesome, but it is primarily a delay. i wouldn't buy it exclusively for the chorus.

clone theory is cool but hecka noisy. who wants a noisy chorus?

I agree with René that the CE-5 is cooler than the CEB-3. Matter of opinion of course, but the CE-5 is way thicker and has more tone control.

I'm not a huge fan of the deluxe electric mistress, but since you want a flanger AND a chorus, you could do a lot worse - why not try it? I saw one in the classifieds yesterday that cost signifcantly less than the price you quote...

I believe you will have a signal from the second output of the pedal whether the effect is engaged or not- also, good or bad depends on what you are trying to acheive. IME, soundguys like a plain dry signal to work with; toggling the chorus on & off might affect the volume or tone of the bass' signal and make more work for said soundguy, w/inevitable results.

The CEB-3 is more subtle. I don't know exactly how it works, but it seems like the dry signal is blended in.
Some people love it. I suspect someone who uses a CEB-3 also has it much more on in songs they play.
Me for example, and maybe others who prefer the CE-5, I use chorus only sporadicly, so when I do engage it I want it to be a thick shimmering effect and I don't mind it kills my dry signal low end a bit.

Some people love the CEB-3, some people love the CE-5.... and some people wouldn't be caught dead with a BOSS pedal. :D

See what works for you.
Don't dismiss a pedal because it has a "bass" version.
Try them out if possible.
Some store salesman look wary if you say you are a bassist and want to try a pedal that doesn't has the word bass on it.

I have the EBS UniChorus and think it's a good chorus for bass. By "good" I mean the sound of your bass shines through and the chorus attributes can be accurately controlled to be as you like them. I have to admit I haven't tried a lot of the others, though. The EBS pedal also has a flange function which is not as good.

Not on the list but I tried a bunch of chorus type pedals including a handful on the list and wound up with the Danelectro Cool Cat. Good price and it has a setting on it that makes it act like a doubler which makes bass sound A-MAZ-ING! It's one of the only pedals I will never let go of.
