Here's an attempt to final pictures. Unfortunately both the i-pad and the camera I borrowed were not very good and the white balance turned out completely off. I'll post them just the same and when I finally resign to the idea that I need yet another camera, I'll take better ones.
The bass have been strung for about a week now and the neck has not shown any sign of bowing so far. I'm away now and when I get back I will take care of the frets which still need a bit of leveling.
The body is finished clear gloss; the neck, satin. Fretboard is unfinished, just sanded to 12000 grit.

I have spent endless hours just staring at the finish looking at all the beautiful "imperfections" in the timber and admiring their beauty and how you have managed to make them perfect yet retain their imperfection! that resin filling and keeping of all those knots etc is just marvellous! What a story that timber will continue to tell for many years to come! Thank you for creating such an amazing and unique instrument! this baby will be played and played for many years to come!!"

Had to revive this old thread.........
I have this past weekend had the opportunity to purchase this amazing bass. A guy in Melbourne who purchased it from the original owner was moving it on, and despite my attraction to pointy guitars, the wood on this was just amazing. Quite a unique build overall.
I had been looking for a 5 string for some months now and was almost going to buy the Spector Dimension 5 until I saw this. I was also excited to be able to read the entire build thread which does give the bass some history and context.
Will most likely get it to my local luthier for a complete setup and then start enjoying it. Unfortunately I no longer play live, as age and life have gotten in the way, but I will definitely enjoy playing this at home as well as being able to look at it like a piece of artwork when it is on its wall hanger.

Thank you so very much and welcome to the MüB family. I am glad the J5 Nemesis found a new home. Thank you also for making me read this thread again, after so many years.... I can't believe how much things have changed since I built this bass, commuting between a sub-rented space and the back of my kitchen. Fond memories.
